Range near North Yorkshire

Hoping someone on SD can offer some advice.

Can anyone recommend a club/range in or around North Yorkshire that you can shoot beyond 100 yards.

I go to the Yorkshire Shooting Center in Huddersfield and the underground tunnels at Stead Hall in Burley in Wharfedale, both are excellent, but I'm struggling to find a reasonably local range with 200 yard + facilities.

I know there's a range in Pickering and also Treesdale Pistol and Rifle Club, I've tried to attend both but can't get anywhere with the contact details on their respective websites.

Any advice greatly appreciated

Have you no land to shoot on?
If so do you need a range? Soon set yourself up with a bit of target zeroing.

Unfortunately nothing suitable for the distance I'd like to shoot out too and amount of noise I'd like to make.

I believe you can shoot as a guest as long as you phone ahead and book on for the competitions you wish to take part in. However the guest fee is significantly more than a members fee, if you intend to go more than a couple of times a year it could be worth considering to join.

For the Pickering club you could maybe try contacting Bill at DPT Euro, the importer of DPT moderators. I met him at his house a while back for a spare baffle and we got talking shooting, as you do, I seem to recall he is on the committee for Pickering Rifle & Pistol Club, he could probably put you on the right path.

Have you tried to contact them via the club website ? They're normally quite quick to respond , particularly the secretary and membership secretary . There is quite a waiting list for membership though .

That's good to know thank you. I've spoken to another club so will see how I get on there but will bear that in mind if I end up looking to Pickering again

That was my experience too, always quick to respond. Also they seemed to have a much shorter waiting list if you were an existing FAC holder when I joined.

The link on the website to contact isn't working at the minute but when it is I'll check the details I have. If they've been good at getting back to others, it does suggest it's something I'm doing!

Unfortunately the club at Pickering isn’t able to accept new members currently. I know the membership secretary and mentioned you to him, @Dan1988. If you’re happy to PM me your details, I’ll pass them on and see if we can add you to the list.

Not sure when the club will be able to accept new members but I’ll keep you posted!

Thanks for all the advice. Very helpful.
I am a Pickering member , It took me about a year on the waiting list that was with a FAC so keep trying to get your name on the list .
It is a 300 yds range with a group of us that shoot at Strenshall with other groups from Leeds & Lincolnshire to make up numbers there , they do visits to Bisley .
For a bigger range Diggle has lots of activities and it was £5 for visiters to join competions this was a year or two ago and you do a probation period also .

That's great thanks I've sent you a PM

I'm a member of Teesside rifle and pistol club, the club is usually at Catterick every month and since the new secretary took over it's usually 300y am and then 600y pm, feel free to message me if you want their email address.
