Re profiling a blade

Advice required please.

I have a Benchmade field knife that I have owned for 20yrs. Unfortunately to blade has a chip in it, about 5mm deep.

I don't want to send it off to the states. Does anyone know of a service to re profile the blade?

Yep, another vote for Longstrider. He's done one of mine years ago before I had a variety of stones and he did a fantastic job. Still use one of his strops today too.

One of my knifes had a crack from not being stress relieved properly, and another one that SWMBO had wrecked in the dishwasher both professionally sorted by Longstrider.

You can do it yourself with the right stones, it is a bit of an involved process though. At 5mm the profile will be very different and won’t be very slicey. Might be better to have it completely reprofiled.
