Recoil pad came off Blaser R8 professional success

Wow this sounds interesting. Even so I expected the “non-customer visible surfaces” of the Blaser to look a bit more robust than this and the recoil assembly not to be “glued in”. Like a toy from a Chinese factory 🥺
They do guns not plastic so I assume they would use a contract moulding company to design and produce. The tool stays on a rack there until Blaser send them an order in, then they fit it into a standard moulding machine and bang the stocks out for a day per month or so. The technology vs cost is the same from China or Germany plus if using recycled black plastic pellets to reduce costs perhaps, the molecules degrade with each recycle compared to newly refined from oil pellets. The brass threaded fittings "Nutcerts" are just threaded rod say 3/8ths long with a knurled outer to grip into the plastic bit that you are missing. Easy enough to bodge one up apart from defining the pitch of the centres.

I just had another few design thoughts on this plastic stock concept, firstly they stick a polystyrene lump inside only to stop the echo so making it seem more solid than a hollow structure really is.
The idea that all of the recoil forces (Blaser goes up to a god knows what calibre for the R8) is all going to be concentrated around the rim of the stock usually of a 2.5mm thickness as thicker than this is very hard to mould without the sinkage being visible on the grained visible surfaces, then if the butt pad retaining plate is clipped or glued onto some internal added ribs in the structure which may not be thicker than 60% of the 2.5mm wall thickness (sinkage again) then all of the forces will land on these few ribs. This seems like kissing frogs to me compared to all the recoil being spread over the whole rear surface of a wooden stock to butt pad connection.
