Recommend me an air rifle

I have an absolute minter FEINWERKBAU-SPORT 124 cal 177. with slings, an A.S.I 4X32 scope. Also an as new Bradey bag worth £100. Originally all bought as a complete out fit and only used in the garden a couple of times then shelved as the owner travelled a broad a lot then recently passed away. The scope covers and foresight were miss placed.
As is a common problem with the original piston seals on these rifles they just rot away as happened to this fine example, TW Chambers to the rescue! a complete, NEW' kit has been installed, the old spring kept with the gun for those that may like to keep it. £500
These are now considered a collectors piece and sought after widely.
PS, the power is very' impressive and below 12 ft lb, accuracy is as you would expect from this maker very tight groups.

BC.
I think that is what I had in about 1985 - absolutely brilliant rifle. Sold my BSA Airsporter to buy it. Mostly used it for endless plinking but made me a far better shot than I would have been otherwise.

I'm not selling mine but I have a PCP Daystate LR10 (I think?!) in.22. Had it 25 years and just had seals replaced by Dauntsey Guns after they went and its sat in the cabinet for 3 years!. Only single shot not magazine but excellent bit of kit. Had forgotten what fun it is and how accurate. I'd search for an old PCP like that - there isn't much to wear out but the seals and that's mainly age. Use it for practice, squirrels and magpies and the odd pigeon where I am not comfortable with the location for .22LR or don't need it.

tbh £300 wont get you much in the pcp world, id say your best bet would be holts or similar auction . but factor in the buyers fee

How close are you to Ian Hodge? He has a couple of rifles that may work for you.

First is a Stoeger XM1. This is essentially made by a Chinese company called SMK, that are big in the entry level PCP market. The action is a PR900 one, and is used by several manufacturers and just rebranded.

Easy to work on, regulated and comes with a scope and moderator.

Second one is the Gamo GX-40/Phox/Coyote range of rifles. Same BSA made action and cold hammer forged barrel across all 3. Think the GX-40 has the carbine stock. Non-regulated, bolt action uses a BSA made magazine. Bit agricultural, but generally well screwed together.

Both rifles are sub 12 and will do a job at up to 40 yards.

Headshooting squirrels at 50 is a very big ask for any sub 12 though, and more FAC air territory. Personally wouldn't see that as suitable for anything sub-12.
FWIW, I currently have .177 (SMK) and .22 (BSA) sub 12 and at short ranges 10-25m their both deadly to squirrels. I have no doubt they will kill at 50m, as long as you can hit the spot. However, my .22 FX Crown is more suited to such ranges IMHO. P.S. the BSA is for sale R10

I’ve a HW110 but unfortunately not in that price range
Could come with rifle only
Or full package, rifle, scope and 5 ltr cylinder

AirgunforumUK has a nice BSA Ultra tactical .177 with a little scope for £350 in the Classifieds, these are decent, I have one from new, happy to shoot live quarry at 50 yards with it.
bloody good little rifles, heres my modified one.

Looks like you have a longer cylinder on that one, better shot count than my MMC, I get about 35 before I need a refill.
They are great little air rifles.
yep,its a scorpion cyl, regged, blue printed and anti bounce hammer, the shroud/moderator is one of mine.

I had a BSA Ultra for years, a really good, accurate rifle. ideal for use around the garden. I've got an FX Cyclone in 177, it's so good I wouldn't dream of getting rid of it but if you ever came across one it would be well worth looking at.

Just be careful shooting an ultra from the drivers window, fortunately defenders have cheap wing mirrors
