Hello, I am looking for advice on buying a moderator for my tikka t3x tac 1 in 308 , I would like it to be stainless steel and over barrel but this isn't a deal breaker.
I shoot at bisley but in the future I will be looking for a lighter hunting rifle after I take my DS 1 ,
Any recommendations please, I have been looking at the Wildcats but they are aliminium.
Has anyone got a MAE recommendations to look at ? But any advice would help, thanks

MAE are no longer made and you have to cope with what the importer has left. Muzzle forward silencers work far better imho. As a non academic changing the direction of gas flow and keeping if inside a chamber even for a millisecond causes excess heat built up. I would go for an Ase Utra SL5i. An excellent, small steel silencer that works far better than you would think. There are other end of barrel silencer that are light and effective but supply is an issue so no point raving about them here. Also the aluminium silencers will corrode there is no doubt about that. My old A-Tec Herts first generation is holding up well and that was on an 18” .243 and. .308 the most important thing is don’t look because they all look bad. Keep them together.

Had an ASE Utra 5 for 10 years plus - used on heavy volume range days on my .308 and 6.5 and regular deer outings - still going strong after many thousands of rounds - utterly indestructible!

ASE here too. I got it to fit my 6.5x55 however as I have a Sauer 202 I got the 30cal one. Got a 30-06 which I finally got to test fire yesterday, I was surprised at how effective it was. Especially as I was in a small quarry on the farm I shoot on.

I have an Oceania defence silencer.

The issue is getting parts or if they even have stock. Hence not recommending them on the off.
My enquiries with them reveal that the Hunter suppressor is a one piece 3D laser sintered printed model made fully from titanium. Weighing about 170grams It has no replaceable components. It uses a proprietary stainless steel insert mounting adapter that is selected to suit the barrel thread dimension. I believe they have some stock arriving very soon.

I use ASE too. A much underrated mod at a reasonable price. Fortunately the .30 I use fits both my .243 and my .308
