Recommendations for 20g cartridges

Good morning all,

Just wanted some opinions on good cartridges for a 20g.
Looking at some for pigeons, some for game and some for ducks.

Anyway I shoot the 21g 7s and the 28g 6s both brilliant for crows and pigeons decoying
The 28gr is still soft to shoot (and I shoot a very light weight sxs) and I don't feel undergunned with 21 gram either

Rc sipe 26g 5s or 4s . I do alot of loading at they throw constantly good patterns. Eley zenith as well

If steel look at the eley biowad, 24gram 4s. Performed well on close range ducks into a splash

I’ve always shot 28-30gm of number five for game although I have a heavy 20 bore. For pigeons and crows I shoot 24gm of 7.5 heap and easy on the shoulder given decoying is quite close range stuff

My opinion on good 20g cartridges is that they are really very good but the not so good ones aren't especially good but you'll get by. Hope this helps

i've found that the cheap cartridges you hit the quarry with are way more effective than the expensive ones you miss with

Brand ? Not so relevant and subject to the Barrel that it was fired in etc . Here is my findings limited as it is Winchester Blind side steel works on ducks fine and also geese at sensible ranges - Its not a 12 bore equivalent to the 3" better range Steel wildfowling loads .

Hello, I not long ago bought a Lanber T 20 20, 20 Bore multi choke, For Pigeons/ Crows i shall use the cheapest 7.5s 28 g and add extra choke,

RC Sipe 28g or 26g #5, wee bit bumpy, but highly effective.
Lyalvale Supreme Game 28g #5 nicer to shoot and still very effective.

I load for the boss,he uses 22gram 7 1/2 from Hull Cartridges,the Pro 20 line.
Always through skeet and quarter choked guns.
I know you will be told that 7 1/2 shot won't kill game, well it does when he uses it! He will quite often shoot a third to half the final bag out of a team of 8 guns,left and rights on nigh on every drive. Last season on one drive on a noted Devon high bird shoot,3 times he had 4 dead in the air at the same time.
Chaps pegged either side couldn't believe the cartridges he was using upon enquiry, coupled with the open choked guns he uses.
Choice always comes down to what your guns patterns best with and what you're comfortable using.

Had my own 20g opened to improved cylinder and 1/4 many years ago, never had a problem either, using 24g 6’s for bolting rabbits, or pheasant and partridge, and 5’s for mallard.
