Recommendations for a dash and rear camera?

Good evening all,

I'm after a dash and rear camera to go in my Hilux with rear truckman canopy. Would be helpful if the rear camera could be fitted on top of the canopy, or just inside the rear window.

Seen some cheaper units on amazon, but there isn't a great deal of information about how the rear cameras are powered and send their data to the main unit, so questions like "will the supplied cables be long enough" are difficult to answer...

I presume others have already looked at this- any suggestions?

Kind regards,

Nathan

Nextbase stuff is good. Whatever you do get something that can be hard wired to an ignition live feed and fix then to a corner of the windscreen, not plonked in the middle

Another for next base hard wire is best mine has Alexa built in and to the phone if the car gets knocked or moves.
all I would add is use the sucker mount on the screen as the heat can make them peel off . Its an easy diy fit 20 mins max.
The piggyback fuse depending on your car may need to be ordered on ebay as the one in the kit is't for the very small fuses but I have some harnesses here ford Ford or KIA.

The rear camera connects to the front camera with just one AV lead that also provides the power, I’ve fitted a few and the front to rear lead has always been more than long enough.
All of my cameras are Thinkware, excellent video quality and small discreet units because they don’t have a display, which is actually illegal to have on continuously when driving anyway.

If you want to make use of the parking motion sensor function then a dedicated battery is an absolute must otherwise you will destroy your vehicle battery in a short time.

After trying several, I now have Nextbase fitted to all the firm’s D-Max fleet. Good quality image and reliable. Backup and spare batteries readily available. All ours are wired into the truck’s electrics with no problems whatever.

Next base

Have the forward facing camera and smaller rear facing one in one of the cars that I hardwired in Which was dead easy using Nextbase wiring kit

Also have a nextbase forward and rear combined camera in the l200

Might be slightly more expensive than other brands but what cost is piece of mind when you need decent quality footage ,,,,

Lots of positive comments for Nextbase and one negative one that doesn't say why🤔.

Personal I have a Nextbase (312 I think) that has served me well for 6 or 7 years now and resulted in the conviction of a total idiot.
We have another one the same in my wife's car.

I have a couple of next base cameras wired in but the trouble I find is the internal batteries aren’t too good. If you had someone bump into you in a car park whilst the vehicle is switched off you’d be lucky if it had enough life to record the incident before powering off. Also had a few incidences of SD cards being corrupted, and I didn’t buy the cheap ones either.

Slider, just read your post. Does that mean you have "another total idiot in your wife's car", or are you been diplomatic about her driving skills??. Just asking for a friend you understand
