Recommendations for a first thermal?

There are some cracking deals on the ‘

HIKMICRO Lynx-S PRO 10mm LE10S Thermal Monocular’

Not sure peoples thoughts on them for £399?

Usually when I see a discount that big though it means there’s something new just around the corner!

Lynx 6mm and 10mm are 256 resolution sensors, go for the Lynx 2.0 15mm or 19mm if you can afford it and want a HikMicro as these have 384 resolution sensors and replaceable battery.

These are outstanding, well worth shortlisting

Same models and Pixfra manufacture these directly.. Excellent deals to SD members on these.

Thermal has its advantages but only use my Thermal when out on the foxes and use the binos when stalking . Had the Thermal out a few times when stalking but just doesn't feel the same . Each to there own though 👍

You will not need expensive binoculars at all. A cheap pair of Votex will suffice. 99% of your observing will be with a thermal. I rarely if ever take my Geovids shooting any more. Rifle sticks and thermal for me.
Pixfra are very good.
In my experience stalking shooting and general walking for every deer/fox/squirrel you see with bins you will see 5x as much with the thermal.
In this picture I could see 1 roe with naked eye 3 with bins and I think 8 with my thermal.20250201_160948.webp

Pretty sure the Pro series has already been superseded by the 2.0 series.

The model I bought is LH25 2.0 & current rrp seems to be £999
No dont bother don't go less than 15mm for stalking and there ok for a bit of foxing also but 19/25mm would be even better when you go larger you loose field of view unless you get the higher spec sensor I think

This was meant to be reply to the deal on the 10mm op was asking

Hello, I am still looking on Thermal, Not needing anything to fancy or expensive as only for general use but must have a realy good Diopter setting as i hate wearing glasses, I tried some Pixra but even on max they did not get a decent view,

I’m trying to weigh up the choice between an XQ35 and an XG35 - I can see the difference in spec but haven’t don’t enough in the field to know whether there would be much difference for lowland/woodland stalking? Any views - I don’t have the cash for the XG now, so weighing up whether it’s worth the wait for the bigger sensor.
