Can anyone recommend a decent set of knives... I have dozens of quality hunting knives so seems silly to have a load of scrap in the kitchen.
Don't mind spending a bit, as really enjoy cooking and butchery!
So far have looked at global, wusthoff or savernake.
Interested in thoughts and recommendations. Thanks in advance

Victronix are great knives, nothing to look at but functional.

If you want something more pleasing to the eye have a look at the flint and flame range. Very nice knives to use.

If you want something truly unique go onto Blade Forums to the custom makers section (kitchen knives). For Sale: Kitchen Knives
There are some truly fantastic creations. Just about all my kitchen knives are from makers advertising on there, the quality and usability far exceeds most factory offerings.

I bought a set of zwilling knives recently which I think are excellent. I especially rate their Japanese style chefs knife. I did a load of research on each set and looked at all the names above and decided the zwilling seemed best value for money and my old man uses them and I’ve always like them so went that route.

I don’t think you can go wrong with anything anyone’s suggested I’d just do a deep dive into the different sets they each offer and try to work out what seems to best suit your needs and is most cost effective!

I own this rosewood version of the Samuel Staniforth10 inch cook's knife and it is excellent. It is modestly priced yet balances superbly and easily takes and holds a scarily keen edge, to the extent that you need to be mentally focused when using it to avoid your fingers ending up in the stew. Make sure to wash it by hand to keep the edge in tip top shape: 10 inch Cooks Knife with wood handle

I have global knifes, I just like the fact that the blade and handle are all one part and easy to clean!

IKEA do a similar one piece knife which I also have a few of amongst the globals, a decent mixed set!

We have a rule, silver handles hand wash, orange/red handles dishwasher and opening boxes etc! The orange red handles are mora and victorinox paring knifes!

The other note is that any knife other than the above two will be razor sharp! Keeps the wrath away from my hunting knife’s!

I have one Global kitchen knife and I agree the one piece design is good for cleaning and it feels good in the hand.

In hindsight the one I bought was designed for slicing meats and fish so the blade is actually quite delicate. This means that over the years it needs a full resharpen as the blade very easily chips.

If the knife is intended as a general purpose knife then make sure the blade is suitably strong and flexible and thick enough to stand up to a myriad of uses. Or buy multiple blades and only use them for their intended purpose.

I gave my son a Flint and flame cooks knife for Xmas last year. Very nice.
I have a selection of Dick, Vitorinox and Sabatier knives. More recent came from Nisbets.

I have a few and the general purpose cooks knife 20cm is worth buying for an all rounder!

Ilea and global knives, make a decent mixed bunch!
