Recommendations for Third Party Dog Liability Insurance

Hi, as posted elsewhere on here previously we stopped paying pet insurance last year when the premiums went through the roof, putting the old monthly premiums away in a separate Vets Bills account. That seems to be working out well (at present).

It has just dawned upon us that in cancelling those policies, we have lost the third-party insurance cover those gave us. Question: Do any SD members have any positive recommendations for standalone third party dog liability insurance please?

We have 3 dogs (2 Hungarian Vizslas and a Teckel), one of the Vizslas and the Teckel are out with me weekly stalking and could I believe be considered by some insurers as "working" dogs although I do not take out paying guests. I did see someone on here recently advising that PetPlan refused to cover some recent coasts because the dog was deemed to be "working".

Any pointers (sorry  ) gratefully received :thumb:

I am aware of the Dogs Trust from this thread - looking for any others.

Wouldn't a BASC policy cover third party liability for gundogs?
In other threads on here there concern over the scope of the cover. BASC states:

The BASC policy only covers recreational activities, however, we recognise that some members will take a small payment in cash or in kind as a result of their recreational activity. In most cases this payment, such as it is, will barely cover expenses; never the less it’s important that members are clear on when the BASC policy will protect them and when or if they need additional cover. Indemnity under the BASC members policy includes the activities of members engaging in recreational shooting activities who make a commercial gain from the sale of meat or other small income derived from such recreational shooting activities, provided this is not their primary source of income.
To date, I've relied on the last highlighted portion as I'm consider myself as a recreational+ stalker who sells a small amount of venison in order to support my "hobby". As other have written, I hate for the inevitable to happen and the insurer interpret this not in my favour, hence looking at Clivertons.

Have you looked at Agria? I use the and they do cover working dogs, though not sure it would do standalone 3rd party or not
Sadly, Agria (even through BASC or direct) only do third-party cover as part of vets bills/health cover and that's what we have walked away from. The premiums for 3 dogs with formerly PetPlan and latterly, Many Pets, were eye-watering.

Our house insurance policy covers our working dogs.

We did look at The Dogs Trust but our interpretation was that they exclude working dogs.

Is this for real? Why would I need £3m coverage for my dogs actions? Really? Who has ever claimed on this?

An easy out is going to be to blame the owner for not exercising control
