Red cabbage with a twist.

That looks like a crowd pleaser. I have a few people who want to pop round for a meal with venison, and that looks just the ticket.

Not too sweet though? (Although the blackberries this year near me are pretty sour).

It is a bit on the sweet side, I think I overdid the brown sugar.
Also strained some of the juice off towards the end and reduced on the side, made a great sauce.
The cabbage blackberry combo sounds wrong but really works with the meat.

Tried this last night with roe loin, adding the wild blackberries and a splash of cassis fantastic.

Since recently learning roe and whitetail taste similar, this one looks like a good one to try with some of my whitetail loin. I like your sauce idea and I think the cabbage/blackberry duo works well with venison.

Will have to try this. Normally I do a handful of cranberries. But have seen apple being used too

Red cabbage, caramelised sweet onions, vinegar, sugar to taste and stewed apple. Add a little water and simmer for 1.5 hours. My favourite venison accompanying vegetable.
