Red stag.

Does anyone here have any red stag mounts in a house with low ceilings, I'm sort of curious on what the general headroom is required to have a stag mount sitting comfortable above the half way point for the wall.
I see posts of Americans hanging there elks and there 1/3rd's down the wall what isn't very appealing in my eyes (But is a must do with space limitation) Obviously red stags are smaller but these same guys are probably dealing with 12-13ft of ceilings versus the 8ft I've likely got to work with.

Surely 8ft and below floor pedestal? assuming this is a large medal stag I realise short and stubby lowland reds might make the cut?

Too add this is just a purely hypothetical scenario the house I currently abide in is fortunate and probably has 16ft ceilings downstairs but Its more 'if' If I ever shoot something nice get it mounted move out into the other family house and randomly figure out 8ft Is way too small for a stag.

Planning on having a mount done for a roe deer this year what isn't an issue but the topic of a red stag popped into my head at the same time.

Very low ceilings in my house.
No scope to hang my red stag head, so it sits on a chair in a corner of the inglenook. Looks fine there!
However, I have built an extensive with a very high ceiling hall way (open to the rafters), so there'll be plenty of scope for hanging heads in future, when the extension is completed.

Lowland stags would likely be even bigger not short and stubby. I’ve resisted getting a shoulder mount done of any of mine (much as I’d like to) they just take up too much space in conventional houses, two of my largest (short stubby lowland stags) are in our stair well which gives plenty of elevation, we have one in our office as high as I can get it but it’s still a tad too low for my liking

They also project a lot further out into the space than just a skull on a shield, again I’ve been tempted to try some of the American wall brackets for skulls which have them mounted in a lifelike pose rather than flat on shields but again have resisted due to the amount of projection from the wall

With the amount you have Andy you could start your own Security Fence Company.. :coat:

You don't have to get a full shoulder mount done. Smaller wild reds can look good on a short neck mount, which is half the size of the full shoulder mount, and a lot more compact for modern houses.

My ceilings downstairs are 2600mm and this Bronze I shot would only fit on the stairs/landing. From tip to base is approximately 1200mm.IMG20240506161020.webp
