Reloading supplies, feel like hard work?

Well folks, I’d be interested to know what your thoughts are with current reloading supplies. I’ve never been one to stockpile.

You couldn’t get primers for love nor money a while back, seemed to sort itself and now I have some,(albeit different brand).

General costs of components have gone sky high.

I feel I can’t ‘pick’ which bullets I want easily which was a large part of the appeal. And I’m not even in weird calibers. Everywhere seems to be out of stock or “on back order” 3 months.

Maybe it’s that folk are putting more time into copper and I’m still shooting lead. Who knows. But I think the times of buying what I need as I go are done. Nosler in particular seem hopeless. Spend as much time online shopping these days trying to find what you want as I do behind the reloading desk 😂 It’s hard work..

Cheers folks. Seems like I need to find stuff I like and stick with it. Certainly a lot of the American stuff seems to be very slow coming across at the moment

Last two orders I have made with different suppliers has left me waiting until stock arrives. Don't know why suppliers don't have/get stock.
It may have something to do with the cost, why have something on the shelf that may sell when you can wait for an order.

wildfowler.250, I agree with you. Very often you cannot get what you want. Stuff is very hard to find and often only comes after a long wait. I have obtained what I can get hold of, and I use what I have got. It might not be ideal, but at least I can keep shooting for now.

Why isn’t there a Uk Company that we can then buy from?

Surely the Uk has the ability to make bullets and powder etc?

Supply and demand, the country certainly has the ability, possibly even the equipment, but is there really the demand to keep a business profitable

I'm the same. I spent 18 months hunting for primers and finally managed to find 1000 Magtech at almost three times the price I was previously paying for Federal. I still bought them though, as that was all the stock he had. Sucks for anyone coming in afterwards, but that's life these days.

Same with bullets. I favour Sierra Gamekings and now have around 600 each of .270 and .308. And I'll continue to buy them as and when I find them.

My only real honk now is that my beloved H4831 seems to be rapidly vanishing from shelves everywhere. So if anyone local to me has some? 😁

it must be a nightmare for anyone starting reloading, there is just nothing out there other than brass, there seems to be a bit of powder and a few bullets but primers seem to be very thin on the ground and without those the rest is useless

I live in the Bristol Area. There is no surplus around here, but if your diligent most items can be had. Dauntsey Guns, still has stock of some powders and primers. Also bullets and cases. Not every choice but most will find something to meet their needs.
Spud and Wildcat has stocks as well.
Over the last month or so, I have replenished my stock for 2 calibres and 22lr. From almost 10 different sellers. Time searching and the most likely location helped me.
