Rem 700 Ejector Plunger

this morning I decided to start the resizing process on some of my .308 brass in readiness for reloading a batch, I had resized about 20 pieces about 18 months or so ago which I had in a small plastic tub, folloing on from my thread last week about a resizing trick and brass spring back so I thought I would measure the previously prepped cases, the lengths were all over the place, from 1.622" to 1.627". so I decided to measure the chamber length, removed the firing pin from the bolt, done this many times, it was then that I had the genius idea of removing the ejector plunger, a quick youtube tutorial and took the plunger out with little effort and no problems, measured and chambered the cases looking for go-no go lengths, tried the Erik Cortina celotape trick to confirm and found the exact chamber length of 1.6255, all easy enough so far, then time to rebuild the bolt and insert that little b****rd plunger and its retaining pin, what a ball ache, 45 minutes, an unholy amount of swearing (especially for a Sunday) and it still wasnt done, in the end I had to enrol the assistance of my Mrs and a G clamp, I started the roll pin, clamped the bolt to my desk and my Mrs tapped the pin whilst I held the plunger in place, its all done now but has cost me an hour of my day, the skin off a knuckle and a bottle of NZ Sauvignon Blanc........the moral of this tale is take your gun to a gunsmith or at least watch the youtube tutorial to the end before pulling anything apart

Yes, the small roll pin can be “problematic” to put in place and it only goes one way (if one puts it in from the wrong side it can misalign)
