Break cleaner on to a cloth and wipe off
What was this, residue from adhesive Camo tape put on and forgotten. Wicked stuff use the self clinging stretchy tape. Can anybody recommend a gentle way / product for removing very old and dried adhesive tape glue from the body of a telescopic sight?

Yep same here, I ended up covering it with shrink wrap in carbon flavourTried all manner of solvents with limited success trying to get some old duck tape off some Viperflex sticks - never fully managed it with anything![]()
Also great to make case lube out of.I use isopropyl alcohol for most such cleaning issues. Available by the litre from Amazon at £7.99 with free delivery.
(It’s also excellent for cleaning scope lenses etc., as it dries fast and leaves zero residue.)

If you know a nurse or doctor, a thing called “remove” or “appeal” are an adhesive remover for use on patients. It’s great and works on everything. If you’re stuck I’ll put some in the postCan anybody recommend a gentle way / product for removing very old and dried adhesive tape glue from the body of a telescopic sight?
Really good of you to offer. Residue now removed. If you know a nurse or doctor, a thing called “remove” or “appeal” are an adhesive remover for use on patients. It’s great and works on everything. If you’re stuck I’ll put some in the post
What did you use in the end? There was no shortage of suggestions!Really good of you to offer. Residue now removed.![]()
I ordered some “sticky stuff remover” but before it had arrived tried some brake cleaner on soft 4x2 rag. Gentle rubbing saw the dried glue slowly removed. It worked well, but possibly with a very slight change in the depth of the hardened tube finish. What did you use in the end? There was no shortage of suggestions!
