Renewal

Is it an “definite requirement” to have shooting permission to retain one’s FAC? Renewal is coming up and although I am fortunate enough to stalk a lot with friends my permission MIGHT not be available anymore due to change of ownership.
Any one renewed successfully without permission. I am obviously a member at shoot clubs

Retaining your FAC for target shooting just needs full membership of an organised (recognised) club.
Keeping Open Conditions does require either at least one Permission, or evidence that you are undertaking paid stalks.
If you are a BASC member and close enough to one of their stalking schemes, you book yourself on one of those, and it 'should' be sufficient, however some Forces can be difficult, so what Force are you under?

I also do not need an “open ticket” as I stalk along side friends with open tickets
That doesn't work unless you're using their rifle in accordance with their conditions under their supervision (ie, the "estate rifle" clause).

In order to use your own rifle on uncleared land it is  you that needs the open ticket. The status of your friend's FAC is irrelevant, even if they are accompanying you.

So if you are under the Met, then your FAC is likely Open anyway since they stopped Landchecks some time ago. Provided you can evidence that you can go out with your friends you should be fine.
If not, contact your shooting organisation so they can exert some influence on MPS FLD.

Agree with VSS though. You either need Open Conditions or to have specific permission stated on your FAC. What your friends have is irrelevant.

Just book a few padded stalks in advance get a conformation letter email that should be enough. Just had my renewal they did question my syndicate stalking as it's in Scottish Borders & I'm N Wales. I also said have other stalking through Keeper friends who I help out during the rearing season, was told that needs to be in writing, just didn't say anything, they just seem to be putting more hurdles up all the time. Does only require one permission for renewal that's what I said.

Agree with both above - Open Condition.
You just need to evidence somewhere to stalk, either a Permission or paid stalk will do.

Then that would be stated.

My ticket is open for my rimfires (.22LR, .17HMR & .22WMR) but restricted to target/ranges for full bore rifles and Sec.1 shotgun.

And it should state the restricted condition(s) first, then the opening up for specified usage.
yes you are quite right. I just looked at my own cert and they are specified.

I guess it depends on what your certificate is for
E.g.
Stalking,: My experience is - no permission, then you'll be asked to show proof of future bookings of guided stalking.
This is well established practice.

Pest control: that might be a bit more tricky
But if you follow the above principle and have written invites( can you please help us with blar blar on dd/mm/yy) from those who have the permission, then that may satisfy good reason.
