replacement stocks

I am currently kicking around the idea of replacing a stock on one of my rifles with an aftermarket one. the original has a nice metal bedding piece in the stock. I don't imagine the new stock will have the nice metal piece to bed the action into.

Will i be able to put a bedding piece into the stock?

Will it be ok without?

if it hasn't got a nice solid one can i make one using car body filler or similar?

Hi swampy,

what rifle is it? it depends on the action and what stock you are thinking of buying.
if your going to bed it yourself then Acrigel is good for a first time as it's a bit easier to work with.
