Reporting Poaching

I was not knocking police officers this time. We all know our short they are in numbers we do not need two thousand but at least five thousand or more. But we do need to be able to log these and build up a pattern over time.
Working together with the police and other organisations we could help stop some poaching.

7 hours to respond to the local estate that had uninvited visitors (scum) yet I notice a traffic officer sat in his vehicle on a motorway bridge watching the M3 all day the other day.
Is that traffic officers area the same one as the estate ? Just because you see Police dosent mean they are response officers. The numbers of officers actually available to respond to incidents is small. That is not the fault of the police, if you want more police tell your politicians to up the budget. The reality is most response officers in the U.K. rarely sit down on a shift, however there has to be a priority to the calls they attend.

Who would want to do there job they work hard on a case only for the courts to give lenient sentence. Risk getting hurt and abused most days no respect now.

Part of the issue for Police forces is a finite amount of officers at any one time that they can deploy. How they deploy them is based on the expected issues at that time/day of the week and any planned events that may be taking place.
Therefore if no one reports crimes/ incidents then they do not show up on the radar, so officers are not deployed to that area. Therefor if something then happens, you have longer to wait until a suitable unit is available.

In the days of health and safety, it is irresponsible to deploy an unarmed officer to try and stop an armed offender.. (Having gone up against an person armed with a pistol, with just a baton and cuffs - it does loosen the bowels slightly :) ) As to asking how you know it is a rifle, there have been countless calls where guns have been seen or heard even by people that are used to them (shooters/soldiers/police officers) that turn out to be nothing of the sort.... fireworks, cars backfiring, table legs in a bag. some of these calls have ended up in people being shot, so asking questions to gain intelligence/information/evidence is not a bad thing.

The more you report, the more likely that there may be someone available and reasonably nearby.
Well the report came from an individual who is an RFD so he ought to know what he is talking about.

No but you can tell by the vehicle and time and location it could be poachers in some areas. We all know there is not enough police to control the countryside at any time day or night. This been a problem for many years.

Dont be stupid , so the travellers would suddenly abide by the law and stop poaching , thieving damaging property etc......I don't think so.
Don’t be stupid.
If you have guys working the land legally with dogs then you tend not to get a problem with thieves in the night cause folk are on the land.

So true Rake Aboot if they know others are on the land at night they will move to a different spot. And yes many innocent members who have the same type of vehicles may get pulled a few times until they know who you are.

We all know our short they are in numbers we do not need two thousand but at least five thousand or more.
Not even close.

We need 20,000 more officers, just to return to the numbers we had before Teresa May (et al) stripped this country of 20,000 officers.

Don't be stupid. Are you trying to say that lads would be on the ground every night of the year , dont think so. A shoot I used to be in was poached all the time by the dog lads even though they knew we released pheasants , I used to shine my lamp at them but they would just shine back , they drove the land and couldn't care less.

Biggest balls up ever, removing beat coppers in the villages. Very little country crime when you had a six foot Bobby on a silent Velocette covering three villages. He knew everybody, good and bad, and the travelling fraternity were not so illegally active. But it's all down to successive tossers in Government, left or right wing, and there's precious little we can do about it. We can't even stop a number of people crossing a narrow piece of water, even though we have a considerable navy and no present war, amazing isn't it. As the man said "we're doomed".
