Review on a HOWA 1500 please.

So looking at the HOWA 1500, the .270 is a long action, can you still get stocks for these? Are the factory fitted stocks that bad? Whats the problem with them
Look on mcavoys website, that's the most comprehensive list I've seen of available stocks.
The lightning 2 is supposed to be pretty ridged

Howa are fantastic. Japanese factory made to tolerances tighter than good custom actions. Gunsmiths in the US began using them as the basis for custom builds when Remington stopped producing decent actions. This is one of the reasons for the plethora of aftermarket accessories.

Mine started as a standard .308. When it was rebarreled the action is all that remained of my then “custom build” and as Riflecraft said, you can’t really improve it. Didn’t need trueing up.

I have to agree with Singer
Bought mine as a stainless .22-250 sporter action and fitted it in a Boyd’s laminate stock. Like it so much I have just had it re- barrelled in an 8 twist 243 Bartlein barrel and pillar bedded into the Boyd’s stock by @dasherman. HACT trigger fettled by me. Shoots sub 0.25” with factory ammo. Now my dedicated Roe deer rifle and it is superb. Howa action and one piece bolt combines the best of the REM 700 and the Sako L61. A proper rifle not a plastic fantastic!

I had two howas first one I bought was a 24” Varmint barrel with laminate stock which I later changed to and MDT oryx just for targets. Then I bought a 22” walnut sporter for deer. Let’s say both shot touching cloverleaf at 100 yards with factory ammo. I got no complaints. I sold the walnut sporter when I moved to the states. I wish I kept that gun too. I still have the varmint gun with me. I absolutely love Howa rifles
