Back in the late seventies and early eighties while working in a rifle shop here in NZ I sold S&L M65DL and M68DL rifles, they were beautifully made and very accurate.
To be honest I thought that S&L had closed just like Carl Gustaf had and was surprised when I read a review of a new S&L Classic DL in an NZ Hunting magazine.
My wife was after a new center fire rifle so we bought a S&L Classic DL in 22-250 and our love affair with the new S&Ls began. We now own five S&L rifles between us including a Legacy 223, three Victory rifles in 22-250, 25-06 and 6.5x284 Norma plus the aforementioned Classic DL.
Accuracy of the five S&L rifles we own and the three that my cousin owns is stellar, all eight rifles will produce sub 0.5 MOA groups at 100m. My 6,5x284 will shoot less that 0.25" at 100m and is still shooting 0.44 MOA at 400m. I've watched my wife shoot hares beyond 400 metres with her Victory 25-06 and the Red Stag in my avatar was neck shot with my Victory 6.5x284 at 300m. The cut rifling is so accurate and cleans so easily that it convinced me to order a S&L barrel for my Sauer 202 25-06 rifle.
The only rifle I have found with a smoother action is the Sauer 90. IMO they are slightly smoother than the three Sauer 202 rifles we own, not by much mind you!
The wood to metal fit is excellent and the actions are epoxy bedded and the stock design just seems to work, for me at least, very well. The triggers break like glass and are fully adjustable plus the three position safety are virtually silent in operation which is a real bonus when stalking in thick bush.
Lastly I have included a three shot group shot with my wife's 25-06 Victory at 100m.
