Rifle fit (stock length, pull, drop etc)

Ah. Well vis-a-vis SBS vs OU I'll plead total ignorance. Never having either shot an OU nor been fitted for one. In fact I don't think I have even held one "closed" as it were. But from one SBS to another SBS I'll stand by what I said.

but the difference between a straight grip SbS and one with a pistol grip will proof a very similar difference

The same holds true for a straight grip rifle, one with an open pistol grip, a more standard pistol grip, and a vertical pistol or thumbhole stock affecting the LOP.

My take is, rifles that are capable of tight groups shoot less accurate the more contact one has with the stock. Moulded hand grips are in my book the wrong way to achieve accuracy. Cheek weld is often too hard, too much pressure on the stock, too much pulse transfer. An adjustable cheek is great and in some cases vital but often adjusted too high. I see most rifles have scopes mounted too far forward and the shooter must strain to get the full picture never mind a downhill shot. LOP is for many like willy measuring and something to brag about even if one can't shoot the rifle properly anymore...worse with our continental customers. One could think some are 8ft tall.
I fit a rifle LOP/scope position in such a way that when shouldering with closed eyes my eye relief is 3/4 to 1" too far forward. When taking the head back I notice the muscles relaxing. Also leaves some reserves for downhill shots. I'm 6ft2" and prefer 13.5" LOP over 14".

So I think, "less fit" can lead to more precise shooting. This also works in the field not only off the bench.
