Advice please , I have a T8 on my Sako .308. which weighs 568gms . which has been on for 20 years, I am getting old now and need something a bit lighter. I put a HAUSKEN on my .243,
and one on my wifes 6.5x55. Can anyone recommend something better please I have no issues with the HAUSKEN mods.

I have a couple of A-Tec CMM4’s - nice light, modular moderators - not for range use or hundreds of rounds but perfect for stalking.

Had a look at a Stalon this morning and wasn’t overly impressed to be honest - not much benefit from the end of barrel mod and it only split in one place.

Also looked at an ASE and it was like a lead weight!! 😳

I also bought a DPT and it looks very well made, not sure how it will last as haven’t had it for long enough but for just now a-tec gets my vote.

I recently bought a F&D 196 and it has transformed my rifles handling.
Imagine your rifle with a SAK rimfire mod on the end of it, they are that light. There is even a lighter model available but I thought the 196 was a good compromise between weight and sound reduction.
Not cheap but highly recommend.

I have had a PES that’s a quiet mod but heavy.
I currently have a ASE and that’s quiet but it is a fair lump too.
I have a Hausken I use on my 20 Tac and 222. Light fairly quiet even on the 20 and price wise takes some beating. I have another moderator waiting on my variation back another ASE but it is secondhand so I am saving a bit over new.
That said I wouldn’t hesitate to buy another Hausken particularly for stalking/foxing.

I was on a similar quest and ended up using DPT barrel forward moderators. Acceptable noise reduction and boy are they light. Just have to make sure you take your time screwing them on to the barrel as they are an alloy. I use one on a .270 and the other on a 30.06. Both moderators are very well made and have stood up well to hunting use and the odd firing range work with no noticeable internal damage. As the dpt moderator is composed of baffles screwed together with o rings, it is wise to keep the threads of each baffle lightly greased with a high temp grease for easy disassembly. If you require further noise moderation you can simply add additional baffles.

Thank you very much gents, I am amazed how many different makes that are out now. I am going to go to the various shops around my area and get a look at what you guys have recommended. Thanks so much Wf1.

Its wildcat for me had the Beit Evo pred 8 Its a 12 on the 300wm clever and quite cheap to change around so happy days .

I have an ASE S5 on my .308, great noise reduction and will never wear out! and I’ve been able to cancel my gym membership, and sell my 14lb sledge hammer on ebay as I can just use my rifle and moderator now. Light it is not......
