Afternoon all ! Right hit me with your rifle mounts for quad bikes, the good, the bad and the ugly...

I've taken on some more foxing ground and considering loading up the bike for some of it so you be good to have some way of keeping the night vision rig safe and secure while clattering around in the dark

Not sure of the make, you can mount two guns but I never put a rifle in them.
The vibration and jolting going through your gun is enormous and I'm always worried something will be out when you go to use the rifle, I just have the rifle on my back.
Also if the bike goes over at least your rifle won't be shooting around corners.
Put the shotgun in there though!

This is one of my concerns to be honest...loosing zero

I actually did a test with the .22, I ran around all day then tested the zero afterwards and it hadn't moved but when you see the amount of jostling...I just decided not to carry my rifles like that.

These were a cheap pair I bought years ago with handlebar clamps. Too much waggling about on the bars so fitted them to a bit of channel on the rack. Main use is rabbiting with the rimmie but no issues with change of zero. Any bumping about is through the tyres so not as viscous as a knock on a hard surface.

Taken a few “quickies” without getting off the seat with this modified deadrest. Had to reinforce the gas assist (and add a strap to adjust elevation) but it’s still on my quad 5 years after fitting and working well.

I got a safety harness from best fox call. Attach to sling & rifle solid as on mu back on bike. Our ground is so bumpy I'd be going so slow with rifle on front be quicker walking!

A few pictures of my latest arrangement of front rifle rest/mount. I’ve turned a bar to fit the Spartan universal Mount fitted to all my rifle instead of the front V-rest and this add flexibility, simplifies mounting and adds very positive location. It has a magnet in it too like the Blaser stick spigots mods I do.

Sadly, less room for the dogs in front but it’s a much more solid mount as I use U-bolts through the baseplate around the front rack tubes under the front box.

I built a box out of stock board and mounted v grips on it, for both shotgun and rifle, had 5 years where my main vehicle I used was a quad and pretty much every day I had both with me, (other than shoot days) it was on some savage ground and never had a problem with zero, that was with Swarovski or nightforce scopes on the 2 “quad” rifles I had.

Loving the mod you have made for the quad rest to fit the Spartan adapter.
