Rifle recommendation in .270

Does anybody have any recommendation for which rifle to buy in a .270 calibre. There doesn't seem to be a great number of rifles on the market?

The reason why there aren't many 2nd hand 270s on the market is because once someone has got one they don't sell it! 😉

What sort of budget have you got?
I paid £170 for mine:

(I call it my expensive rifle, because it cost £20 more than my 243).

I'd be able to go to £1500 but just want something that will do the job, good action and trigger with a barrel that won't rust.

For that sort of money you'll get what you want. It's just a question of being patient until the right one comes available.
Good luck, and enjoy!

I had been looking at a tikka or sauer 85. I looked at some Bergara's but don't have much experience with them other than knowing they often make custom barrels.

For that money I’d be after a second hand Schultz & Larsen, but an older Sako would fit the spec for half the price. My Sako AV/L61R was £600 including a Zeiss scope and rings (so basically a free rifle), lovely solid classy rifle that’s doing the job well in all weather.

Well there’s 180 on guntrader from £75 to your £1500 and beyond so plenty of choices for you.

Bergara are excellent rifles, that's what I have in 270 and it's half moa with any factory ammunition or much better with some. Could be wrong but there was couple of premiers on guntrader recently reduced to your budget

That's good to know, I had read that the trigger on the premiers are excellent

A 270 Winchester needs to be hosted in gods own Winchester M70. For the UK I’d go for a Win M70 Extreme Weather and wouldn’t look back.

From my understanding, often proven incorrect but that’s another story, the 6.5 PRC is, roughly, the modern equivalent of the venerable.270. Have you considered this?
More and more manufacturers now producing their wares in PRC.

There is no steel that is used in barrels that actually won't rust ! The stainless barrel steels are not the correct type of stainless to prevent rust occurring in such a way as you state " wont rust."
