Rifle Slip

Any suggestions, I’ve been using an old air rifle slip and it’s on its last legs, thought about a Napier Razorback, don’t want to have to buy twice so something quality would be preferred.

Aim Dragbags - pricey but indestructible. Use mine for stalking and can happily carry it around in the ground with no problem. Can get a decent amount of kit in it as well

I have two AIM dragging bags and cannot fault them - and as already mentioned, you can plenty of kit in them.
I have not seen the Ogden Quickslip others have made reference to, but when I was looking for a leather shotgun slip quite a few years ago, Ogdens ones were really well made. The only reason I did not get it at the time was finances and I bought a cheap canvas one instead.

Another vote for Ogdens. Great slips and a nice guy.
Wanted to buy a second at the Stalking Show but the internet was down so no card machine working. "Take it and just send me the money later" he said. Didn't want my name, address etc - definitely worth supporting!

How do you intend to use it, if its just to cover the rifle while going to a from your permission theres little point in buying a drag bag, or do you need to carry other stuff, in which case a drag bag might be better for you

Points to look for:
Durable materials
Weather proof - preferably for more than one whole day outing of going to the hill
Hand stitched at stress points ( carry sling Dees, flap tab, muzzle, buckle tab, any carry handles, drag loop)
Double thickness at action and muzzle for protection, preferably something robust like decent leather)

Old school, built to last, built to work; a retracting sling is handy if dragging on the hill.

I have the ridgeback and it’s great. Protects the rifle well.

And NO ZIP to wear out!
Zips are the weak point in most types.

I’ve got 4 aim bags - all at least 10 years old. They have been brilliant, wouldn’t hesitate to recommend. Just received the Ogden as a birthday present and really like it too. More traditional than the AIM but nice features and looks solidly made.

Freeforester,
Did you have a hand in the making of that slip?
