For those of you, I'm sure there are many who had the pleasure of meeting Tony, sadly he passed away peacefully after a short illness on the 14th of February. He was one of life's characters and an absolute legend.

Beloved husband of Linda, dearly loved father of Jamie and Caroline and adored Grandfather to Stephanie, Cameron, and Megan.
The funeral service will be held at Roucan Loch Crematorium on Friday 23rd February at 1.00pm
Family flowers only please. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Tony’s name to The Stroke Association https://tonyanthonyhalpin.muchloved.com/ (https://tonyanthonyhalpin.muchloved.com/)
Afterwards, we will be gathering at The Cairndale Hotel, English St, Dumfries, DG1 2DF
All friends are welcome to attend.

Sorry to read of this. Tony was one of the first people I went stalking for Roe deer with many years ago in D & G, lots of stories and lots of laughs - and occasional blank outings which never seemed to be a problem for either of us!
RIP.

I was introduced to Tony by the late Phil Lynch, they were both colourful characters to be sure.
Condolences to the family.

I shot my first Roe with Tony a very long time ago and also did My DSC2 with him. He was a great guy and a pleasure to have known him. Once you got to know him he would share some great stories. He was truly a Legend.
Can somebody please message me Lindas address so that i can send a card and some kind words.

RIP Tony and Condolences to Linda and Family.

I started my stalking journey with Tony back in 1992. I remember seeing his add in the back of the shooting times. Me and a mate went up for the weekend. When I first met him, I thought ( he doesn’t say much ). We had a great time and I was hooked. Over the years, I went back many times with my wife and daughter. I would go out with Tony and Linda would spend time with my family. In the evening, we would sit around the big table and drink until the early hours. One year we were up there around the time of my birthday. We had been out for a morning session and on the way back he stopped off at the fish mongers. I hadn’t a clue what he was up to. Later on that day he cooked mussels in wine for my birthday and Linda produced a cake…..it was a wonderful gesture from a wonderful man and his wife.
If anyone can let me know of a contact address, I would very much like to send Linda a card.

Attached is one of the last pictures I took of Tony. It was when a young chap from work was looking to get into stalking so I took him up to see Tony. Here he is just having a few shots with his old mannlicher.

Shot my first roe with Tony way back in the 80s then did level 2 with him , what a lovely person always very helpful, my condolences to Linda and family

Tony was a very good friend of mine and I want to put out there that there have been a number of enquiries about his kit etc.
Not only is this bad taste but very disrespectful to the family at this difficult time. Tony has only just moved on and anyone thinking of asking shouldn't
The family will decide how and when Tony's effects will be moved. I was personally with the family at the end and have been asked to forward this message
Sad that I have to write this but Tony's passing has resulted in some people thinking there is about to be a fire sale and this simply isn't the case.

Incredibly sad and disappointing behavior.

Was saddened to hear of his passing on Saturday night! Had a brilliant day with him last year really nice guy and his wife is really nice. Absolutely gutting to here as me and my brother were both saying Saturday morning we needed to phone him to see about booking more stalking with him as we enjoyed being out with him!

I reckon there’s a lot of folks who had the privilege to grass their first deer with Tony.
Reflecting on my first morning out with him all those years ago, I realise just how that positive experience went on to improve my life……from the wonderful places I have stalked and the great and kind country people that I have met.

You've hit the nail firmly on the head, and although I was very fortunate to have spent many hours in his company, I somehow regret not meeting him sooner in life.

Greed brings out the worst in human nature,After hearing of the sad passing of Tony and having stalked a few weekends on his grounds I wondered how long it would take before the vultures started. Not long it would appear.Rest in peace Tony

Very sad to see this post. I knew Tony for many years (through Phil Wright) and have stalked with him several times. My 'old faithful' buttolo call came from Tony's stand at Lowther show MANY years ago. His stand was always a 'go-to' place for a cup of tea with Tony and Linda. You would struggle to find a more helpful person anywhere, and I will miss that wonderful dry humour. Condolences to Linda and the family.
