Road Injuries

Have been stalking on this permission for about four seasons now one of the boundary's is a busy Coast road Have shot a couple of Muntjac with Fairly typical road traffic injuries but shot this Chinese last weekend with a scab looking thing on its shoulder about the size of a plate and around half inch thick. Upon opening it up everything seemed normal including the Lymph nodes apart from some extra fluid in the chest cavity. What could it be and has anyone seen anything like this?

Mating/ season territorial fighting would be my guess. I have come across some really serious looking wounds, on chinese, where the thin skin has parted and resulted in
a serious looking gash like this.

Just look at some old warriors ears and face to see what those tusks can be capable of.

Hi

I recall culling a Muntjac with 'dueling' injuries to one of the rear legs, bad enough that it had laid up head into the bottom of a fence line, and let me approach to put it down at the back of the head. The gash in one of the haunches went deep into the muscle and was pus laden, with other lesser injuries clearly through the skin evident.........

The will to 'survive' is likely to be high in most animals.......
