Was out on Monday in the Crainlarich area, no roaring on the hill and stags still together, but keeping a distance from the bigger stags, saw a few stags beginning to wander a bit but only one stag holding hinds and he seemed a bit fired up.
Heard a couple of half hearted roars in the evening in the low ground trees, was only 6 degrees in the morning so thought that would have helped.
Two stags went to the larder and was a great day on the hill.

Ten days ago, out with Stingercargill, and Lochty, on my own estate, we watched a nice stag with 22 hinds/calves , and he was roaring all evening , and keeping a check on his group, there were a couple of stags roaring back to him from the woodland. Since then I have heard no roaring, and young stags seem to be getting tolerated . We start on them tomorrow, so hope things improve in the next few days.

Strange old year this.... loads roaring down here now but of the 4 I've shot not one has been ****y or black.... totally clean and unsmelly....

Roaring in Galloway heard a week ago. I shot one stag 11 pointer that was clean and not stinking of ****, full of fat and a full gut I had seen him several times over a period of two days and not heard a sound and he was not answering my calls. Weighed on the hook 314 lb he had a lot of hinds with him. Shot another two days later 14 pointer he was roaring and stinking something awfull. Still pretty fat weighed in at 328 lb on the hook. This stag only had two hinds with him.
Ps looking for an Argocat so similar if anyone has one for sale

We were up in Sutherland for the first two full weeks of September and the stags were roaring both around the lodge overnight and up on the Hill during the day!

They clearly weren't reading the rule books

Patience..... they will arrive..... but agree it's all rather odd this year, not following protocol at all!

The bigger one of the two shot by the Old Gamey was well run - stinking and his liver was just about the colour of a decent pate, which is usually a sign that he's been working......

Where About in Perthshire are you? I am meant to be going to Aberfeldy for Tuesday but not much happening there yet. Don't want to drive ten hours for a quiet walk.

Not heard anything here yet,just back in after spending fifteen minutes outside just listening , can usually hear them from all sides here,never mind there's a nip in the air will be a touch of frost by dawn just the thing to set them off.

Just outside Perth. I shot one near aberfeldy on Monday and they were roaring then. As it's got a bit colder since then, you should be okay.
