Roe with a white stripe.

My neighbour mentioned seeing this doe and last night she came out at 80-90 metres away she is showing a brilliant white stripe about 2 inches wide from the top of the head between the ears down to the nose otherwise brown as normal. Is this very common?

No. But possible either as unusual genetic pattern, or from injury or photosensitive chemical in plants
Thanks for the info from a vet.
I will have to call my pal in Freiburg also a vet, he has now only a small animal practice he sold the large animal one a few years ago.

I believe its Levigsp has two at least he posted the picture, I'd have to imagine Its a piebald (in technical sense, skewbald) entirely possible for roe deer too have whiteness on them, although very rare.

I had a piebald on my patch. Only saw it twice then it vanished. Also had a black doe one winter, only saw the one time.

Watched this young buck for its first couple of years until it vanished. We were never going to shoot it and Would have loved to see it mature. Not Sure what became of him

One lived for a few years at Glenfarclas on Speyside, and was often seen; sadly it ran out in front of a truck one morning and was killed. The skin & head was later mounted as a full sized animal by a local taxidermist. Not sure of its whereabouts now.

There used to be a white hart in a fallow herd around Meiklour a few years ago. Not sure he it was a managed, or wild herd, but he earned his Judas nickname for sure!

@levigsp Actually curious those two roe posted a few years back were those ones you shot, If so do you still have the mounts or did you sell them etc?

Weirdly enough after posting them, I came across a Tiktok video that has two piebald roe deer in a trophy room mounted the same way, with near identical piebald markings I'm pretty confident there the same mounts.
