You need to get out moreThis is weird. In no part of my life have I met anyone in the last 20 years who thinks telling racist jokes is acceptable never mind entertaining.
I’m no snowflake or easily offended. I’m not for banning anything. But I’m not being ‘politically correct’ pointing out that telling a joke about ‘niggers’ is racist and not acceptable.
The lack of response to the article posted about the guy attending a gig speaks volumes.
Also, I have zero doubt that if you stood on a street corner with a megaphone and read out a transcript of a Roy chubby brown gig, you wouldn’t have your guns for much longer.
@Woodsmoke I’ve just read it and yes the guy is a total tart but you’ve called most of the people on this thread misogynistic racist homophobes for standing up for free speech, seems hypocritical when just yesterday you yourself was hurling insults at an ethnic minority. I’m no fan of travellers but you was saying the only way to sort them animals out was a series of shallow graves. Some of the things you said and agreed with were no worse than Roy chubby brown.Read this. And if you're not embarrassed by, and for him I'd be very surprised. I find a lot of things hilariously funny, but there's a line. This guy wasn't even funny in his hey-day.

I Was the Only Brown Person at Britain's Most Racist Comedy Show
Racist Roy 'Chubby' Brown's Gig is arguably UK's most controversial comedian. I went to one of his sold-out gigs to see if there was more to the stand-up show than an old racist man making old racist jokes.www.vice.com
......waiting for the 'few' to pounce on you for using the masculine tenseAre the Englishman, Irishman, Scotsman jokes racist ?
They most certainly NOT an ethnic minority. So that argument is disingenuous at besthypocritical when just yesterday you yourself was hurling insults at an ethnic minority
I've been trying very hard not to say exactly that, but it's been difficultOver the line is no longer funny, and the sort of people who find it funny are generally not very intelligent or likeable individuals.
^Hes very well spoken in real life, remember it's just an act![]()
Probably. 'Gypsies' are a cultural minority, not ethnic.Am I being a bit dim
You've lived a sheltered life thenThis is weird. In no part of my life have I met anyone in the last 20 years who thinks telling racist jokes is acceptable never mind entertaining.
Actually I don’t gather.Probably. 'Gypsies' are a cultural minority, not ethnic.
'Travellers', on the other other hand, are not.
Either that or he keeps good company. You've lived a sheltered life then
Probably best not to get yourself so wound up so close to your bedtimeYou lie, you say your not a fan of cancel culture but yesterday it was gypsies/travellers (basically the same thing) and today it’s comedians. What you cancelling tomorrow?
So who draws the line. My line may be farther to the right or to the left of yours. So it's only you who judges whether someone is not very intelligent or likeable? Where we draw the line is a individual thing.Humour often treads a very fine line. Right up to the line can be very, very funny. Over the line is no longer funny, and the sort of people who find it funny are generally not very intelligent or likeable individuals.
Yes, we all draw our own line for personal taste, and everyone has different likes and dislikes. I wouldn't judge someone simply for that. But there is definitely a point beyond which is a step too far by any reasonable person's standards. Whether this Chubby fellow oversteps the mark and deserves his ban I can't say as I'd never heard of him before this thread, but it does sound like he's running pretty close. So who draws the line. My line may be farther to the right or to the left of yours. So it's only you who judges whether someone is not very intelligent or likeable? Where we draw the line is a individual thing.
