Roy 'Chubby' Brown . . . .

No comedy should be banned, everything should be fair game.

If it offends you, simple, turn it off or don't go to the gig.

Ricky Gervais recent special proves this point...he deliberately includes minorities etc in the show so that that are included in being subject of comedy.

It's a bastardisation of a Gervais statement but I completely agree with "How arrogant are you that you expect to go through life never hearing an opinion that you don't agree with or offends you?"

You have every right to be offended, I have every right to offend you. This whole nonsense lead by the professionally offended of Twitter needs to stop.

The worst thing about Chubby Brown is, regardless of the offensive of his material, he isn't funny. Bernard Manning, was equally offensive but he knew his craft. He could work a room effortlessly and his timing was perfect.

Esther Rantzen hated him and when the two of them were interviewed by Parkinson she thought she could take him on and put him in his place. Big mistake. He destroyed her and even had her laughing. He twisted her attack around and used it against her and came out of it on top.

Anyone can tell a dirty joke, Rantzen said sniffily.
Go on then. Replies Manning.

He’s not my cup of tea on some things but I believe he should have a right to say what he wants - I cannot stand cancel culture and being comedians having to apologise for jokes is ridiculous.

Frankie Boyle was pretty close to the bone but I did find it extremely funny - and that was ruined by moaning people who had him cancelled.

Regards,
Gixer

The problem with banning things, is once the thing you are advocating is banned, then you have to think of something else to get banned, and before you know it you are living in a world of nothing,

if you want politically correct comedy you only got to watch Michael Macintyre ,but he is about as funny as a dose of the clap .if you don't like don't watch simple really .
i am of the opinion you just cant have politically correct comedy . and i thinck old roy is funny as ****

I am very glad that many people do not share the same humour - no holds barred, religious (or non religious), pastimes or way of life as me, because it is MINE.
If you don’t like it f🤡k off and i will do the same with you and your business as long as it is legal

This is weird. In no part of my life have I met anyone in the last 20 years who thinks telling racist jokes is acceptable never mind entertaining.

I’m no snowflake or easily offended. I’m not for banning anything. But I’m not being ‘politically correct’ pointing out that telling a joke about ‘niggers’ is racist and not acceptable.

The lack of response to the article posted about the guy attending a gig speaks volumes.

Also, I have zero doubt that if you stood on a street corner with a megaphone and read out a transcript of a Roy chubby brown gig, you wouldn’t have your guns for much longer.
