If you are a racist/homophobe, would you not want to keep that to yourself rather than make it plain to everyone your outdated and unacceptable beliefs?

Guess it flags you up for everyone else mind you. Pros and cons. Still disappointing to read though, as I consider SD to be a well informed, enlightened forum on the whole.

So where do you draw the line on what is acceptable comedy, I’m guessing just slightly above what you’re comfortable with. How convenient.

No, seeing the funny side of something doesn’t make you a racist or any of the other things you mention, that’s just a tiny noisy minority telling everyone we can’t laugh at stuff any more. Society has seriously lost the ability to poke fun at itself, preferring to apologise, hand wring, claim offence and accuse like you have done here.

No one should be put on a pedestal so they can’t have the pee taken, we are all fair game.

It seems it doesn’t take long in today’s day and age for veiws to become out dated, eg 10 years ago gender neutral toilets would have been an unthinkable proposition but in 2022 your homophobic if you don’t accept sharing toilets with god only knows what or trans people playing sport in their non biological gender category. I absolutely don’t consider myself homophobic but this is dangerous!
 
I’m not totally sure all posters here are aware of the content of a Roy Chubby Brown gig.

Either that or I’m more disappointed than I thought!
 
For what it’s worth I’ve not advocated banning anything or anyone. Just pointing out, racism = bad.
 
Racist posts often go unchallenged on this forum, keep meaning to sign up as a supporter but there too much stuff on here I can't support.

Those 3 traits have been alive in humans since time began and I don't see it ever changing. It's part of some peoples DNA I expect! Banning something only sends it underground and makes people more inclined to put peoples backs up and make them more extreme. Your last sentence is also spot on. As a society we have no time now for other peoples thoughts or feelings

Just because someone has said they have enjoyed watching a comedian who is very close to the knuckle with his jokes does not make you racist-
On a personal note I am Welsh 🐏❤️. I recently had my knee dislocated by a sheep, the amount of sheep jokes I have received from medical staff is unbelievable, so do I get offended ?? No I laugh it off as a joke - I guess you lot complaining that course humour is racist would be dragging the staff over the coals to get them sacked then?

The odd joke of his is funny 90% of it I dont find funny. I wouldnt go to see him, I wouldnt even watch his full set on tv.

Should he be banned, absolutely not.

Its slippery slope calling for things to be banned because 'its offensive'.

Someone being offended it doesnt make their opinion anymore valid or justified so really we should just ignore those people.

Roy got me in big trouble !

Was in Blackpool with an ex girlfriend a long time ago , she asked me to take a couple of pics of her infront of the pier , took the pics and didn't think any more of it ... she later got them developed and I was in the sxxt.. she was not a big girl but was very weight conscious... I swear I hadn't noticed .. but right behind her in one of the pics a double decker bus had pulled up with the massive advert down the full length of it " Chubby goes on tour" with her smiling and standing directly under the middle of it 🤣 bursting out laughing did not help my defence !
