Ruger 10/22 what’s your thoughts or what would you have instead

I am going to stick up for the little 10/22 here. With the correct ammo and a couple of mods it produces reasonable accuracy out to 75m. Follow up shots are effortless if you’re trying to cull loads of vermin. Mine loves CCI subs and Mini Mags, but is indifferent with Eley and like a scattergun with Winchester. Modifications can cost as much or as little as you like...but beware the temptation to continually tinker is only limited by the size of your wallet and it’s easy to fall into the trap of endlessly tweaking it as oppose to accepting its limitations and and actually enjoying it for what it is.

Using a RimfireMagic along with a Volquartsen 12.5inch carbon barrel and Volquartsen trigger unit. At 50m is as accurate as my CZ 455 if I do my bit. Out to 100m is also more than accurate for my needs. I have had nonissues with reliability. Have had one failure to fire and that was from a dodgy round. As long as you keep them clean and find an ammunition you like they are brilliant. Definitely give more smiles than using the bolt action. The local rabbit population hate it.

Santa brought me a 50rd mag for Christmas. First range day cost me getting on for 400 rounds....
My old Krico only held five and one up the spout but that was often enough for rabbiting trips to degenerate into the wild west.
Five cow pats/fence posts to one rabbit wasn't an unusual average.
I spotted an old tin can once and must have blown a full box chasing that thing up the field.

I like the accuracy of the Anschutz but when cocking the bolt it often doesn’t clear the spent brass and it lands back in the breech, also when chambering the next round its seems tight and not an operation you can carry out quickly so I loose a lot of second shots.
very frustrating when your out in the dark.

Anybody have any use of the CZ semi autos?

David.
I had one from new, eventually passed it to my shooting partner. A really accurate rifle (unlike most semis) I've tried pretty well all of them over the years and the CZ512 was by far and away the best, Accurate and operated well with subs, (I never use hi-velocity 22s.) It's taken rabbits out to 90 yards on several occasions.
I can't speak for all 512s but that was a cracker!

A bit old now and mags are rocking hose s-t to find, but the CZ/BRNO 511 are cracking for accuracy. And I love the way the mech field strips.
I even picked up a second one at auction last year. Mint, with mag for a tenner.

This is my 10/22. Always better to get an extended mag release and I love the flutes on the barrel and the laminate stock

Just doesn’t get used, as I always take something out suitable for fox, plus rabbits are still limited in number round my way.
