I shot a fallow buck last night, which certainly smelled like he was getting ready for the ladies.
Having not shot many like this, I have a question…when I split the aitch bone I found two things either side of the bladder that looked to me like anal glands - like the ones dogs need emptying. They were like wobbly-ish yellow body fat (ie not puss as not white and opaque).
Is this a normal thing? Other glands all in good order, other than one or two on the body slightly enlarged which I put down to either the rutting or the hole in its shoulder made by another buck or similar which was fairly recent.
Thanks all
