S20

Anyone know where I can get a .308? Seem in very short supply
There’s something I just can’t get my head around....According to GMK (UK importer) they have no surplus S20’s available. Any that are coming to the UK, are from dealer “pre-orders”. They didn’t know when or what calibre was to arrive. If I hadn’t pre-ordered one with my RFD, I would have to wait until at least October.
Sooo....The all new S20, the rifle that “is you”, demand exceeding supply...yet the dealers are already offering them for £300 - £400 below RRP.
What gives....? :-|

What type of barrel profile has it got.
Is it a similar profile to the tikka ctr or more like the sako 85 hunting rifles ?

Trust me
If I could sell them for £2000 I would
But when everyone is advertising them at £1700 that’s where everyone will advertise them!

Assume that any dealer that pre ordered 5-10x and was then locked down might be looking to shift them sharpish

Only my take on it
I find the whole RRP thing a farce though

No-one is selling anything at RRP and many thing get marked down heavily as the market settles into a true reflection of their value.
Sometimes this is down to supply
Sometimes it’s down to just what sells.

Genuinely this is a £1800-2000 rifle
Grabs them at this price if and while you can in my opinion.

I can see this being the rifle that changes a lot of people’s views on what is possible from a mod range bolt action.

Very few factory rifles on the market that tick all these boxes at this price point

I called at shop for primers today and they had one, looked fairly tidy with the cerokote finish the thumbhole grip was nice fit not quite as good as blaser but comfy with inserts. At the offer prices worth considering 👍

Northallerton shooting supplies have one in stock..... can't recall what caliber as I'd didn t really pay much attention to it today....cos I'm left handed

Has anyone bought one of these yet or handled one ??
Had a good look at a chums S20 that is waiting for him at Ythan Field Sports supplies. I rather like it and look foreward to printing some groups when he gets his long overdue variation.
Balance is spot on with a Wildcat fitted. The rifle certainly looks good to my eyes and feels good in the shoulder but perhaps not to everyones taste.
Performance as with all Sako/ Tikka rifles is guaranteed . Hope we get some setled weather for testing.

Handled 1 and have to say the the fit and finish of the stock parts leaves a lot to be desired.
Balanced really well though, but just wish they had spent a little more time making the joining parts fit better.

Had occasion to separate the 2 halves of my Hunter’s rear stock last week when I dropped a washer that was under the QD cup I was removing - note to anyone thinking of the doing the same...... I was removing it to fit a GroveTec limited rotation cup if you were curious as I’ve found whilst stalking the the sling can easily twist as the standard cup is full 360 deg rotation and I was getting fed up of untwisting it. As an aside, I have managed to get a 3HGR Sako Takedown sling direct from 3HGR and it works very well - some popped up in early S20 photoshoots and 3HGR will be releasing them soon I believe - many thanks :thumb:

Anyway, back to the stock. It’s very well made and I believe looking at the mouldings that Sako have actually chosen to make a feature of the join line. It will not be to everyones choice but it’s is a quality injection and they could have done it differently if they wanted to. Whilst I was there, I took the opportunity to cut out some high density foam pads to fit the main space in the sub-chassis and fitted it. I did this to my 85 stock when I fitted a Kalix Teknix adjustable cheek piece. It help to deaden the hollow stock sound on the 85 and has helped on the S20.

Balances VERY nicely with a Freyr & Devik FW196 - highly recommended :thumb:
