Safari videos

Off topic a bit but I enjoy Peter Capsticks books via audible. Nice to chill out with a beer with the headphones on and eyes shut
I'd rather read a good book than listen to an audio or watch a video, but being in the mood for an armchair safari, and having read the books I've got so many times I almost know them by heart, I opted for a video last night.

@Heym SR20 is the source of good hunting videos! Always sends me good ones for bed time watching 😴 he may bang the NO LEAD drum (for good reasons) but he is a true hunter and conservationist with lack of appreciation on this forum IMHO, a good friend, and an eccentric weirdo (sorry buddy 😂 )who will brew up a cup of coffee in the field and sport some home made pastries and such when you least expect it. Even thrown in surprise hot sausages on a 3am trip to the highlands!
Perhaos he might just share some good videos on this thread with a bit of luck for you chaps!

Thanks for the kind words. But I am afraid I can no longer be bothered to share good videos on here. There are too many who just behave like fat little school bullies whose only interest is in killing as many deer as possible and would not appreciate ethical hunting. It seems like the Stalking Directory that once was a place to learn and share information is no more.

I must admit the latest crop of Safari videos I have seen rather stick in craw. They all seem to have Donald Trump Jr, or some similar feckless idiot waddling around whining about this or that, and patronising the Africans with a PH who reckons he was in the the RLI or South African Recces (anybody who was is now in their late 60’s, early 70’s if not older).

They all seem to want to get Trump Juniors endorsement in the expectation that all the billionaire sycophants will fly over to spend their billions on hunting in exotic locations.

However there are some really good articles written in the days when articles actually provided a good 20, 30 or even an hour of entertainment and thought, and not the couple of minutes of drivel we see in Sporting Rifle or the Field. The modern digital age can never cope with the attention span to actually read a well written article, nor have patience to actually hunt properly, nor actually appreciate what they have. They just want instant gratification, probably self delivered.

Here is one written by the late Michael McIntosh, who also penned a wonderful book on Shotguns.

Funny thing is, I've read them all but it is nice to relax and just listen.......with the obligatory 'campfire' beer. Brian Herne's The White Hunters is on there too, currently half way through - another sitting in the sun/headphones session over next few days 👍

Have you read Wilbur Smiths Courtney collection?

When I’ve shot in Africa the aspect I enjoyed was seeing all the different trees, plants, rocks and animals. Sitting around eating simple food with a beer chatting. Most of the videos are over the top dramatic, or just promotional videos using it as a photoshoot to plug brands or products. If I were producing a video it would be much slower paced and more of the overall trip not just the kill.

Here’s the latest from Safari Classics. Some of it is quite good, but an awful is self congratulatory. What sticks in my craw, is that Zimbabwean schools require charitable gifts from wealthy hunters just so they can a roof over their heads. Zimbabwe, when it was Rhodesia had a thriving economy. Indeed, even in the early 1990’s it was booming. But Mugabe and his chronies have absolutely buggered it. Now, just to get basic education requires getting a few crumbs off a wealthy foreigners table.
