Sako 75 6.5 x 55

interested in trying the Sako 120 power head next

I have shot Fallow and Roe with Sako 120gr Powerhead II in my 6.5x55mm.

All shots under 160m, all resulted in pass through, all caused immediately lethal trauma resulting in sub 20m death runs. Very little carcass damage.

Sako 75 with 143gr ELD-X loaded in my own brass by HPS Target Rifles. They leave the 20 1/2" barrel at 2700pfs and nothing has gone further than it's own shadow. Yes, there's meat damage, but I only shoot for my own freezer, and am more concerned about a 1 shot kill...
They also v-bull at 600yds on statics, so what's not to like!

Like many others above, I use Sako Powerhead II 120gr. copper bullets in my Sako 75 in 6.5x55 on sika, and have found them excellent, both in terms of accuracy and doing the job.

Try rolling your own in this sublime calibre - 120g Sierra Prohunters have dropped everything for me or more recently the 130g Sierra Gamechangers which on paper have been the most accurate round out of my rifle! Enjoy seeing the bullet strike through the scope as it happens - phenomenal (not easy to spell at this time of day - glad I wasn't trying to say it) round!

Agreed on the homeloads. For years I used the humble Speer Hotcore 120 gr in my 6.5x55 Sako Finnbear. Sweet spot was around 2650 fps. Deadly on roe and fallow, but never used it on anything bigger, but would have had total confidence at sensible ranges/angles.
