Sako 75. Keep, sell, rebuild.

Do folk really think the laminate sporter stock on a Sako are to heavy for stalking?
I can imagine a 24" varmint barrel perhaps being too much, but the laminate stock taken off my 85 didn't seem like anything.

I have a nice sako 75 which is a blued varmint action and was terribly heavy and didn’t get much used because of the weight but I really liked the action a lot so I decided to rebarrel it with a lighter barrel and found a brand new original 75 hunter stock for it and I’m absolutely thrilled with the outcome. It costs a bit but it’s worth it in my opinion

I had a similar headache laminate stainless always found it too heavy, with bipod ,mod and nightforce, I would never consider selling as 6 ppc . First off I picked up a bargain mcmillan stock on here got it painted . A year or so later decided to chop the barrel by 4 inches 😮 , would work well with your 308 too. This made a significant difference though it is still heavy and accuracy unaffected. Those stainless tubes must weigh a tonne. It will always be a bit of a lump but lighter bipod, mod and scope all will cut the grams . I have this rifle almost 20 yrs and when time comes to it I will definitely rebarrel it, all be it with a lighter profile, the rest can stay the same.

Keep it and buy another lightweight rifle for stalking.
You can decide later if you want to keep it for range use or sell it on.

TBH, I'd rather carry an unthreaded 24" varmint weight rifle around than a 22" sporter weight with a damn great moderator hanging off the end. The Varminter is lumpy but at least it's balanced.
Pair a heavy mod with a lightweight synthetic stock and it's even worse.
