Hi all,
I have two matching Sako 75 Deluxes, both short actions in nice wooden stocks.
I had one rebarreled in 6.5 Creedmoor by Brock & Norris then Cerakoted a few years ago. It was bedded and is unbelievably accurate even with factory ammo so is my go-to rifle for the hill or the woods.
The other is in .308 Win and now it never leaves the cabinet. The inside of the barrel is worn and although it shoots OK (sub 2 MOA groups with factory ammo), I don't use it and would probably choose to rebarrel it if I kept it.
Now to the crux of the problem: I find myself constantly wishing I had a light, synthetic stocked rifle with stainless barrel for the miserable days climbing up rusty high seats, etc. that can be bashed about a bit. My dilemma is do I rebarrel my 308 (probably keeping it in the same calibre to allow for different ammunition, uses, etc.) and drop it into an aftermarket stock or do I buy a Sako 90 Adventure. I suspect the 75 would be marginally cheaper to rebarrel, restock and Cerakote.
All best,
Z.
