Sako Finnfire P94S mag for under a fiver?

I received my two ten shot mags today. They are excellent quality, feel solid in the hand and in attractive matt black.:-D They feed well and I've had no problems cycling them. Thanks spandit for your hard work and I must say your communication and e-mail updates on the progress of the magazines was first class

I will second this , can't fault you Spandit

Had an enquiry about making a single shot adaptor but with a small change to the base I can manufacture them so that putting the magazine in upside down would give this function for free - what do you think? I'd need to add another lug to the cases but that shouldn't be too difficult

Used mine in anger last night - bunnies couldn't tell the difference! One of the magazines feeds as well as the original whereas the other is slightly temperamental (but it was damaged during the fettling and can probably be quite easily fixed)

For the initial round, yes, but will be running another order. Prices have had to go up a bit but should be quicker turn around. PM me your email and I'll add you to the list for when I'm ready to order more

Just got the Mk.III back. No time to try them out as they'll still need a bit of a polish inside and all my tools are up at the workshop but the new base looks good and should make extraction effortless:

I've also made new springs for the 10 shot magazines which I'm hoping will address some of the feeding issues but I know even the factory ones aren't perfect so I might just give up. In the order that's just come through I've got a couple of stretched 10 shot mags and redesigned bases which should allow for the full capacity without further fettling. That said, the factory 10 shot magazines have a metal spring guide (which I didn't know until quite recently) so I need to see if these make a difference too.

Even though I'll probably be late for work now, couldn't resist seeing how the 5 shot looked in the rifle:

Pretty unobtrusive and although this one actually fell out of the rifle once I pressed the catch (they click in nicely without having to cut a bit off the snib) had it been a bit stickier then the fin was very easy to grip

That looks pretty good, the five round mags can be a pain to extract. It's a pity the ten rounders are causing such a problem. I use mine in a Finnfire Range for target work. The five round mags cannot be used in the deeper target style stock, so if development of a true ten round mag is a problem, how about extending the grip tag on the five round mags so they could be used in the Range model? I will have a few to start the production line!

How much longer would the grip have to be?

I won't get a chance to test these before next week, I imagine, but glad they fit without modification and the follower rises high enough. Hopefully the changes on the 10 shot mag will address many of the issues. I have some plans on how to make the springs more efficiently too but won't go into mass production until I'm happy they work better

Apologies for the time it has taken me to reply. As to how much longer the grip tag would need to be, as long as possible. It may also work to drill a hole through the grip fin and fit some form of lanyard to assist removal.

Any news on these? Would love to have a working 9/10 shot one.

Right. I have today submitted an order for some Mk.6 versions. They're redesigned at the top and have a different base and follower. Really hoping these ones work properly (would have been sooner but I put an order in a few weeks ago and mucked up the file so they printed the wrong thing, very accurately!)

Any update on the P94S mags as the thread stopped in Sept?

The first batch I despatched didn't work terribly well. I've made some modifications but I don't want to send out an inferior product. I was talking about it with a friend of mine and he asked why I didn't just buy my own 3D printer and make them myself (the ones these are printed on cost about £200K+). I replied I was sceptical that you'd get the quality but e-mailed him the file and he printed one in carbon fibre filled PLA - quality was surprisingly good and I was astonished that it worked faultlessly! I have since purchased my own printer but the only place I can keep it is in my unheated workshop and have had huge issues with the temperature/damp.

Latest variant does away with the metal pin and should just hold together with clips but without a heated enclosure, it didn't print well in Nylon yesterday.

The professionally printed later variants worked pretty well in 5 shot versions - haven't done a great deal with the 10 shot but it's been a difficult year and have hardly taken my rifles out of the cabinet...

Managed to get some work done on these this week. Rejigged the lathe to wind the spring differently (slightly weaker) and changed the ramp angle on the follower so the back of the round sits a bit lower, hence pushing the nose up. The one I tried this evening (printed in PETG - the same stuff they make water bottles from, so pretty tough) worked flawlessly:

Wouldn't be too difficult to put a tritium vial into the base (Tritium Lamp, Vial, Tube, Capsule, Trigalight - 12mm x 2 mm - Glow in the Dark | eBay) which should make them pretty difficult to lose at night. Could alternatively try to fit an LED and battery in but just concentrating on getting them reliable. Giving up on the pinless idea at the moment as my printer just isn't accurate enough. Still too cold to print in Nylon and ABS but once I have my heated/insulated enclosure going that should change. ABS has the advantage that you can vapour smooth with acetone but haven't experimented with that yet.

I've also been experimenting with printed springs for my HMR magazine and they are fairly promising - certainly springy, although they don't collapse very far which would limit capacity. Annoyingly I can't find the mag I had printed to try them out.

Completely redesigned from scratch in different software (OpenSCAD) which was a major pain but allows me to make very minor tweaks much more easily.

I increment the mark by 0.1 every time I make a change. I'm up to version 5.7 but thought some might be interested in this:

The 5 shots have been working for some time. I'm giving up on the finned bases for now because I can't print them neatly on my printer. I'm getting some black filament in soon which will make them look better in the rifle if printed in colour (got a new roll of blaze orange). Once I have a chance to get some professionally made I'll test them thoroughly and then open up another group buy with hefty discounts for those who supported me on the first one.
