Out of interest, what calibre is the rifle please?
It is a .308 mateOut of interest, what calibre is the rifle please?
May I ask again. Are you using a muzzle break or a moderator? And if so, which type? We still haven't touched the bottom of what is causing the phenomenon. It is a .308 mate
Moderator mate, I have tried it with both my Freyr and Devik F280 and Wildcat Evo happens with both of themMay I ask again. Are you using a muzzle break or a moderator? And if so, which type? We still haven't touched the bottom of what is causing the phenomenon.
Sorry, using a F&D FW196 moderator.Rather than go with Sako‘s 2-piece system, I went with Tier One 40mm Picatinny rings to fit my dS on my .308 Hunter and I’ve had no movement whatsoever. I like the lower profile too.

My initial thread says that mate I've tried the two piece tier one mounts also and they started moving rearwards also mateRather than go with Sako‘s 2-piece system, I went with Tier One 40mm Picatinny rings to fit my dS on my .308 Hunter and I’ve had no movement whatsoever. Maybe it's our terminology mate, that is the exact same mounts I tried in 30mm from Ed at ERSG, I call them 2 piece as there is 2 separate mounts front and back compared to one piece like a saddle mount
wytonpjs the picture shows rings not a one piece mount, have you put up the wrong photo?
My thoughts to...perhaps a design fault they’ve missed....enter the gen 2 model ! or perhaps a recall !I doubt it. Use of moderators and this type of mount is commonplace these days. Nonetheless it will be interesting to see what Sako says - please update us.
I think its possible to get movement in both direction when a moderator is used. Positioning a ring forward in a front slot of the rail and the other rearward in the back slot covers all possible movement. As above.... but I would just put both mounts to the rear of the slot... hey presto... no more rearward movement!!...
Yes, I think a lot of scope manufacturers moved to etched glass reticules. I had a Swarovski av 4-12×50 and it broke cross hair. After that I got a nf nxs. No problem sinceQuite some energy to dissipate, then. FCS had a spate of problems in this respect a few years back, the moderator mass at the end of the barrel changing the characteristics of the typical (unmoderated) recoil progression. Broken crosshairs ensued, the energy has to go somewhere, and it'll do its worst to escape via the weak spot in any design. Some make of Rifles (less liked than others) have lugs attaching the mounts directly to the barrel, shifting the potential problem toward the scope rings.
Thanks mate that's what I want to hear from other S20 ownersProbably not very helpful but I have a S20 in .308 with a H2 mod and a Zeiss V6 56mm so quite a heavy scope. I use Leupold QRW mounts, both front and back against front edge of the picatinny rail and I haven’t had any of the problems you are experiencing.
