SAKO S20???

Just watched the video of an excited chappie unboxing one, what I did find odd was the stock removal was done with the key ................. But without a scope fitted to the integral rail, looked to me like it would be fiddly with a scope in place. Anyone have one?.

I had a look at one in the gun shop yesterday, very nice handling, but the magazine rattled like a box of matches. can't comment on the stock removal

Yes, I’ve got one and no it’s not fiddly. I haven’t seen the video you mention but I’m guessing they didn’t show that the Sako key can be assembled with a long shaft or turned around to have a short shaft (Short being what you use when the scope is on). The other thing to remember is that it doesn’t take many turns to remove the stock, you are just loosening the locating lug.

Thank you for your informed reply, I could maybe be a little more attracted to one if they did a more solid looking sporter stock, rather than a thumbhole job.

Think I paid under £1800 for mine in 6.5CM with the "Precision" stock and 24" unfluted barrel. Love it, feeds and ejects perfect, mag doesn't rattle, fitted a magpul picatinny rail on forend for QR bipod.

There is very little in the way of aftermarket stocks, I can only see the thumbhole and precision on the Sako website. I just wish it had a full length Picatinny rail so I could fit my thermal scope with one piece mount, if it did I'd ditch my 223 and use 6.5mm for foxes, as well as deer and targets the rest of the time.

Whacked another roe with mine tonight - they seem to work although are heavy for what they are and the barrel is quite long in standard trim…

The rattley mag is a pain but a small piece of sticky felt fixed that.

They are good for the price.

Why would you want a thumbhole in "Addition" to a sporter?:-|
I believe that the idea behind the s20 is a mix and match format.
So you could have a fast handling thumbhole for say driven boar, or woodland stalking, then change to the other stock if you are going gong bashing or doing more long range work.
