Hi All....my wife & I attended the above show on Saturday & it will be the last so called Game Fair that I will attend. If you like scented candles, jewellery, cards, wooden pens, cheaply made clothes & expensive gins then you would have been in 7th heaven. Nothing gun related was available at the show, no gun sales, no accessories, no cartridges or ammunition, no reloading components......nothing. A real shame.

We gave up going to “Game and Country Fairs” about 10years ago, we used to go to them all over, using the nearest Caravan Club site but they all became much the same, as you describe.

Problem I think was that a company took over the running of them and they lost their individuality.

Willowbank.

They do not wish folk that shoot or work in the community of hunting who know the worth of a coin ! they wish yuppie's an old word today but it still fits the type that attend such advents stop years ago now .

Well not quite. Almost. But not quite. As said there were cartridges for sale on the clay layout on the "have a go" stand. And I could have had a slab of 16 bore if I'd wanted to carry them about. But, yes, I also only saw ONE trader selling guns, again as below noted. On the same row that was near the climbing try out stand.

I went today. One...yes ONE...trader selling shotguns of which he had five or six on display only. Including a 10 bore AyA SBS. Lots of burger stalls at £10 for one burger, £4 a portion of chips, £4 a coffee. A have a go clay stand at £15 for fourteen clays and they were selling cartridges and I got a box of twenty-five Eley 16 bore VIP Game for £10 which I thought reasonable. Should have bought more but didn't want to carry them about for the next two hours!

A have a go airsoft stand and a have a go air rifle stand and that was it for the so called "gunmakers village".

Good shows in the area and elsewhere two marquees of meat products, gins, cheeses and etc.. Lots of the usual sellers of clothes, shoes, bags, and etc. but no sellers of game equipment (think drinkers, feeders, game feeds, peg markers and that. A row of dog related products and a tent of hamsters. Admission was £15 per person. Would I go again? No. Do I begrudge the £15? Not really as wasn't a bad show unless you were looking to buy a gun in which case don't go.

Marquee of fly fishing kit for sale and free casting lessons (on grass) also. A chainsaw carving demonstration and a thirty foot climbing tower. Interesting display by Norfolk Constabulary and good gundog demonstrations in the arena plus ferret racing. Lastly. Nobody from our friends from the travelling community.

There was also a clay pigeon competion. Vendors elsewhere selling gun slips, cammo clothing and the like. And a seller of binoculars of, I guess, Chinese make with a European or American sounding name. Not at all crowded and I drove straight in from the Wolferton side and parked but fifty yards from the entrance.

Well as I said we went on Saturday & walked round twice, there were no dealers selling shotguns, maybe the traders you saw were not there on Saturday due to the first show being cancelled & alternative arrangements being made, it was as I described & we will not be going again......hey ho!

I would guess that some of the regular exhibitors were unable to make it on the new date. For example, Fenland Wildfowlers Association have been there since it started but the changed date clashed with a long planned 70th anniversary dinner.

Yes, we attended as well, I don't go to these often, but they all seem a little disappointing nowadays. Euston Show was a bit better I thought earlier in the year.
