Sauer 202 30-06- your thoughts please.

I have 202 stutzen in 308, very happy with it . A friend had a 202 in 30-06 with high grade wood it was gorgeous . I would also say that it was nicer and smoother to shoot than the 308 win , which I always find is quite snappy. My only dislike is the APEL Swing offs which I think are over complicated for what they are supposed to do.

I have had a sauer 202 for about 13 years. I can thoroughly recommend them. Fantastic quality. Mine is walnut and blued steel, in .243. A lot of people have shot their first sika with it and it's always been a pleasure to use. I like the safety, it's very smooth and silent. I personally prefer the 202 to the 404, it just feels better finished. I also have a .30-06, it's a nice calibre. Good luck with your purchase.

The above is interesting for I tried the 101 and the 404 side by side at the French Game Fair at Mantes using plastic bulleted 7x64 ammunition (five rounds each) on running boar. And certainly I found that the 101 fed far better than the 404 which felt "graunchy" if there be such a word with the round seemingly not feeding straight but off side of the left receiver wall.

I really like mine in 6.5x55. It is really comfy. Palm swell to the grip, it naturally comes up and just feels so right. I’ve had no issues with accuracy it is far more consistent than I am. I was unsure of the safety at first but now really like it. The off button is well forward of the trigger and the rifle should be pointed in a safe direction anyway when opening the bolt / unloading. Not that I ever expect it to go off accidentally as I’m aware of the possibility and make sure I’m doing it right. The safety on the tang is naturally placed and is easily applied without moving position of head or hand. If I could find one with a heavy barrel in 6.5x55 for range work I would snap it up.

I have a 202 in 6.5x55 I bought it as a result of trying the RFD’s who rebarreled a rifle for me.
He could quite literally build anything he wanted, but has a 202 as his own rifle.
Add to that the fact you can get adapters to fit barrels to. So you can get anything built on that action with the 243/308 case head size. I could have a 22-250 to go with the 6.5 and the 270 I have.
I like the fit of the rifle the stock has a bit of cast. It’s actually lighter than my Sako 75 action 1 20 but isn’t unpleasant to shoot because it fits (me anyway)

I have one in 30-06 and I just love it. Great looking, super accurate, well made and always does what it is supposed to do. I also have many other brand of rifles but I always take my Sauer out hunting

Makes me wince every time I see Chubby ham fistedly rip that action apart...

Jesus wept! Certainly not somebody I'd lend anything to after seeing that.
Oh; and I've owned a Sauer 202 in .308 since 1997. I've shot a lot of deer with it, and I also use it 3-4 times a year on the range to check loads and/or practice. It will still shoot a one hole, 3 shot group.
The safety within the trigger guard seems like more of an issue than it is in reality. The very fact you have to put your finger within the guard tends to "focus the mind" somewhat.
