Schmidt ad Bender 3-12 x 50 on a .243

Hi,
I have an S and B 3-12 x 50 on a .243.
I have been told that this scope was designed for 7.62mm (.308) If this is correct then the ranges and adjustments on the elevation and deflection drums are of no use as they are.
Does anybody know roughly what the clicks would roughly equate to (.243 drops faster than .308)
Is there an easy method of marking up the range and elevation drum so it works for the calibre. I had asked a similar question about marking before, and a very helpful bloke sent me an excel spread sheet to use. Sadly i am not an IT black belt and couldn't get it to work, so am looking for an easier foolproof method.
Even an aspiring gunsmith would could re mark the cap to what it should be now.
Thanks for any answers in advance and i will reply to all.

Presumably 1 click = 1 cm at 100 m, or 1 mill.

So 1 click = 2 cm at 200 , 3 at 300 etc.

Take a look at the trajectory info on the back of your 243 ammo. It should give you the drops at 200, 300 etc assuming 100 zero. Go and twiddle the turret so many clicks to get your 200, 300 etc and see where it reads on the dial. Also have a look at a 308 trajectory.

You will of course find differences in trajectory for different bullets in the same calibre. A 60gn 243 will be diffferent to a 100gn bullet. And in 308 with bullets from 123gn to 180 you have lots of different trajectories.

but nothing will beat taking it out onto a range with targets at different distances and setting the turrets to each range.

Got a pic of the scope? There are quite a few different 3-12x50 from S&B. Some can just get exchange drums from S&B. If it is a classic then you either have or can get 1cm/click 100m or 7mmclick /100m or a drum made up for 7.62x51.
Best would be one of the first two and you could make yourself a drop chart.

To test you could put up a ruler at 100m and look through the scope how much your crosshair moves when you click the turret.
On one of my 3-12 schmidts I noticed that 20 clicks only did 14cm travel = 7mm/click 100m
