Hi all,

I’ve decided to sell this S&B 3-12x50 scope to buy a day/night scope. It’s in great condition with a few minor marks on it and it works perfectly. The reticle is a first focal plane standard 4a type thing. Just a crosshair basically. It comes with hawke quick release low mounts for a picatinny rail.

It’s a great scope that came with my .22lr. The rifle seems more accurate with this on than the pulsar c50 but needs must and I have to fund the new scope for my centrefire rifle.

I’m looking for £450 for it posted to your door. If you have a HIKMICRO 4k lrf alpex that you want rid of, then I’m happy to do a deal.

Can I ask what difference a FFP reticle makes considering its not a mildot reticle or similar?

Thanks

Great question. Makes absolutely no difference!

It just makes the posts to the left and right and below (and the actual crosshair) thicker or thinner. I suppose if you worked out the drop between the cross and the top of the post, it would be maintained and the size of the animal in relation to the crosshair would always be the same but that’s about it. I assume it’s just easier for them to make a ffp scope than a sfp one?

SFP generally seem to be cheaper so I presume the opposite.
In the good old days we all knew the relative size of various deer between the posts of our reticules and used that for range estimation, FFP is obviously simpler to use for that as target and reticule stay comparative regardless of magnification.
SFP with finer crosshairs was more popular with 'continentals' for night shooting at relatively short ranges as it blocked less light and covered less of the target.
But in practical terms use what you are happy or familiar with.

Fancy a deal for a pulsar c50 message me
I’ve actually already got a pulsar C50 but wanted the extra bit of zoom and the drops calculator on the hikmicro. I do need two day/night scopes though, so I’ll come back to you if this isn’t gone in the next couple of weeks.

Hi all,

I’ve not had any particular interest from anyone who wants to buy this so I’ve decided to just buy a new alpex and keep this as well. It’s not valuable enough to sell considering what it would have cost new so I’ll just keep it in the cupboard for when the digital scopes die or when the apocalypse comes and I can’t charge them any more!

Thanks
