Ive got an old West German 8x56 1" tube scope sat in the cupboard, its been sat on a .22lr for about 10 years, before that briefly on a .243, over the years its got worn on the surface, few marks, rings etc, optically still perfect though and retains zero, rather than sell it on, im considering getting it refurbished? has anyone done this before? do they recondition the glass? do they re do the scopes paintwork or outer coatings? how long does it take? what costs? who is best to contact?

Any help or advice greatly appreciated

Chris

& I'd like to know if it's possible to still get a deep black gloss finish rather than the cheap-looking semi-matt all scopes seem to be supplied in these days

+1 here - my 243 was knocked off a table and put a scratch on the swarovski habicht scope that was mint. Now have a half inch long scratch that needs repairing.

I sent one back to Swarovski a few years ago that had a really worn body and marked lenses and got an almost new scope back; lenses and body were new and internals cleaned.... cant remember the cost though unfortunately. I contacted the UK office and they gave me the details for sending it over to the factory. I do remember them sending me a quote for the cost of works before it was done though. It also didn't come back with the lovely deep bluing of old, although I didn't request an old style body tbh.

Honestly thought someones done this before with schmidt? theres plenty old school scopes out there that serve many a stalker?
