To enter a dog in a test here costs 400SK = £35. you have to do a novice class and get 3 firsts to become a champion. If you are holding a test it should be to judge how the individual dog tracks not how good it is against other dogs. You could have out of a field of 8 dogs say 6 worthy of a first . Its then for the judge/ judges to say who they think is the best of the bunch.
Its dificult to lay trails and judge more than about 8 dogs in a day and you must have fresh ground for every track.
I think that only people who have trained their own dogs should be aloud to enter.
Interesting. When Robbo and I went to Belgium to be tested by Rudi's club we got points. The "winner" was simply the one with the most points. The problem is to find people to help laying tracks as you know how time consuming that is. You can squeeze in 10 in a day with a smooth organisation but not more so you need a fair amount of similar terrain.
I know of no UK trainer who specialises in HS or BMH. A few do on HPRs. I do not mind if the hound is trained in China or here. What I would like to see working is the best hound.
See you in March?
