Scone Game Fair October.

I might be J. it all depends on what the state of Covid by then is I also have some personal issues to contend with at the
moment so don't know if I will be able to attend whether the virus allows or not.
What's you position regarding the Roe rut J. ?
I have clients wanting to come but still not sure if it is feasible travel could be a problem four arriving together driving
in one car all from different areas in Belgium at the present time social distancing means a maximum of two in
a car .
With me and my truck that means five between two vehicles not possible at the present time , will this be relaxed
before the end of the month? Who knows!
Need to book hotel and so on and still not sure if it's even possible for us to go ahead looks like the 15th of July
before we get some clarity if then, which is leaving things a bit late.
Between Covid and what else is happening in my life at the moment , I could probably do without it but it's not
that simple.
Life seldom is.

We will go if it’s on and we are allowed. Already been looking at accommodation for it. Like said above, no worse than the supermarket thats for sure.

My view, and appreciate its just my view, is that we are going to have to get back to doing things as a society at some point. Covid will remain and for the vulnerable it will always be a nasty disease. For most of society it will be a mild illness.

And its going to have to be at some point a decision for each of us whether or not the risk is acceptable. If you are happy at taking the risk of catching Covid or any other infectious disease then go to work with others or the pup, theatre, cinema, get on a bus, aeroplane or go to Scone Game Fair.

If you are not happy with such a risk of catching an infectious disease and either suffering yourself, or passing to somebody you live with then don’t go.

And equally we all need to learn that if you are feeling unwell, don’t struggle on, but just stay in bed. Regardless of Covid, we have all suffered from a family member or colleague coming to visit or coming into work with a filthy cold only to pass it on to everyone else.

There has been quite a bit of mixing of people over the last few weeks and certainly a lot of mixing in England, and yes there have been spikes but overall the infection rate is dropping right off.

Interesting comments, many of you will know that we share a stand with John & Andy at Scone, so we are watching developments closely and weighing up the business risks.

Sales are in important element, however the regular Scone attendees know that John, Andy, Jess & I enjoy the blather and catching up with friends

Further thoughts appreciated :thumb:

Scone is on a good day a flag waving exercise for traders and purchasers are few. Online shopping has killed all but impulse buying. October is too late for most countrymen with birds to tend or even shoots to run, plus the weather will almost certainly be unkind..

If the weather is ok I might go along on the bike, as it's done precious few miles this year because of the lockdown.... Considering how many other events that have been cancelled this year it would be good to get to at least one show as all the country shows in the SW have been binned.

In all likelihood if I am home at that period then I will attend.

As has been mentioned above we have to readjust to some form of (new) normality at some point.

Sorry Jim Hit the wrong button. You know how it is with us old foggies and IT. Yes there is a problem at the moment with clients. Unfortunately there is no defined answer yet. I have folk interested but they are not very sure if they want to come or not. I have had to knock down some nice bucks as they were guzzling the trees. Clients would normally have had them. As for the transport side , if the clients hired a car they can follow you in that vehicle to wherever you are dropping them off.
The reason for starting this thread was to find out with monarch if it was worth taking a stand this year. The organisers have still not confirmed with traders yet. We all remember the disaster the Stalking Fair had down south during the shooting season. They have said in the latest ticket push that they will be doing everything with the traders to keep you safe. We have had no word about that either. We are in quite a few possible at risk areas. It has been ok stuck away in the middle of no where with no idiots in sight.
Keep safe and hope other things improve for you and hopefully we can catch up sooner rather than later....J

Chris, the "Glamping" beside Perth Racecourse or the Hotel at the racecourse might be two ideas, we've used them in the past and they're ok, I presume they'll be glad to have a bit of business as well. I assume one or both will be open by then, a wee bit outside Perth, but an option.

As for comments on sharing vehicles etc I think you just have to be honest and sensible. If you are both fit and heathy and don't cough and spit over each other - probably very little risk and no more than going into a pub or sitting on a train. Stick a face mask on by all means. Or out your clients in the back of a pickup. On an Argo cat on the open hill, or even in a pick up with windows wide open I would have though risk to be minimal.

There is a lot of paranoia going around. All the precautions our great leaders now putting in place will do very, very little - these should have been there in February and we would n't even be having this discussion.

As for whehter I would go to Scone in October - yes would be noce to get out for a day, but chances are weather not the best and I would rather be out shooting etc.

Mind you suspect shooting days will be more limited and something like Scone could be a very good social event to catch up with friends etc.

If only it was a mild disease for those who weren't vulnerable. It is a serious disease and shouldn't be taken lightly. Causing problems with lung perfusion, forming blood clots and multiple organ failure. It is just not another strain of flu....
