scope for long range

As said mate you can pick the zeiss conquests up for about £600, and they are great scopes, far better glass than the shitforce,

rapid z or mil dot, but check that they give you enough elevation or get a rail to add MOA.

bob.

It's no wonder us newbies get confused about glass, one post we have "everyone should own a Nightforce", then it's "zeiss ... far better glass than sxxtforce". And everything in between.

I would like to shoot out to 800 yards with either my 7mm rem mag or 308 when i get 1

Then whatever scope you choose, make sure it has at least 50moa of elevation adjustment or you will find yourself needing to fit an angled rail to point the scope downwards.
The s3 mid range scopes are a good buy with nice clear bright glass and lots of adjustment.
The 6-24 has 100moa, the 8-32 has 70, but the 10-50 only has 50moa.
The new moa reticle is really nice and very intuitive for calling corrections at long range :-)

The simple answer is, there isnt a "whats best", the question you should be answering yourself, is whats best for me.

Ask whats best on here or anywhere and you'll get a myriad of replies.

From my own experience;

I shoot long range - out to and beyond 1000 yds

I compete (well try to) at F Class

I stalk quite a bit

I shoot vermin

I only use Schmidt Bender on my hunting / tactical competition rifles (which I use out to 1000 yds)

The max power I have is 16x

For F Class I use a NF 8-32 power, the clarity is not as good as S&B - if S&B made a scope with the features of the NF I want (at the time I bought it) I would only be using S&B

Personally, I would go to a local shoot and see what everyone else is using and ask to look through the scopes - then you get an idea of what YOUR brain and eye likes.

Then research on the internet the features you may need (power, reticule, ajustment etc)

Then go buy.
